As the Director, Campus Examination Area you will serve as the Director of one of Small Business/Self-Employed's Campus Examination compliance offices, and is responsible for managing the day-to-day operations of all office activities. This responsibility covers a wide range of programs such as Correspondence Examination and Automated Underreporter. The Director ensures the programs and policies established by the Division Commissioner, Director Examination, and Director, Campus Examination are delivered in accordance with established procedures, and taxpayer issues are resolved in a timely and accurate manner.
As the Director Campus Examination Area your duties and responsibilities include the following:
- Oversees day-to-day operations of the Campus Examination compliance office. Establishes program goals and guidelines to aid personnel in meeting work plans and schedules. Directs statistical analysis and evaluation of Campus Examination balanced measures. Monitors the balanced measures and develops and executes comprehensive program review activities to evaluate operations and make recommendations for improvements.
- Develops transition planning strategies to integrate the current organizational structure into the modernized plan of the future along with migrating programs and work force skills.
- Participates with the Director, Campus Examination; Director, Field Examination; and Director, Headquarters Examination; in setting program policy for Campus Examination compliance by planning, directing, coordinating, and evaluating programs and activities. Advises the Directors on all matters related to the incumbent's area of responsibility. Provides input to Director, Campus Examination as to the effectiveness of Servicewide policies, programs, and procedures as they relate to the incumbent's area of responsibility and requirements.
- Provides executive leadership and direction through subordinate managers. Delegates sufficient authority to subordinates to allow them to effectively manage their resources and to provide a supportive environment for creativity and innovation. Ensures these key managers operate as an effective management team and that all management functions are handled in an equitable and responsive manner to meet the needs of the taxpayer customer. Coaches subordinate managers and assists in resolution of complex issues.
- Works closely with other IRS executives to ensure consistent and equitable delivery of services to customers. Participates jointly in the development, execution, and monitoring of work plans and financial plans. Ensures appropriate utilization of their allocated resources.
- Oversees the adherence to standardized requirements of a corporately-managed workload and a centrally-managed network to ensure "world class customer service." Implements and coordinates required training activities.
- Directs the development of activities to build leveraged partnerships and collaborates with stakeholders to increase taxpayer education and to clarify Tax Code issues.
- Manages all human, physical, information technology, and financial resources assigned to the Campus Examination Area, and allocates these resources in accordance with overall strategies to further the accomplishment of specific goals that incorporate modifications to tax laws, regulations, and restructuring initiatives.
