The incumbent serves as the Deputy Executive Director (DXD), within the Office of Intelligence (OI), Customs and Boder Protection (CBP), Department of Homeland Security (DHS). The incumbent works directly with and under the direct supervision of an Executive Director (XD) to assist in carrying out OI's primary mission to enable CBP's decision advantage in combatting terrorism and transnational crime by providing timely, actionable, and relevant intelligence to drive operations, planning, and decision-making in the border security strategic environment.
This position starts at a salary of $163,964.00 (GS-15, Step 1) to $191,900.00 (GS-15, Step 10).
Typical work responsibilities include:
- Participating fully with the Executive Director (XD) in the review and appraisal of border and national security issues amid questions with major implications for the agency's stance, including those with potential impact on one or more aspects of national security, and/or impact on CBP's mission.
- Supervising and directing the subordinate division directors in the establishment of goals and objectives, work planning and organization, work assignments, and personnel management responsibilities.
- Assisting the Executive Director in exercising broad management and leadership skills in affecting the coordination of critical intelligence activities, programs, and initiatives between CBP program offices and between CBP, the intelligence enterprise, and the intelligence community.
- Providing cross-functional, threat-based intelligence operations and analysis support at the national, operational, and tactical levels.
- Performing intelligence and analysis, operational support, and program management in service of the organization's intelligence enterprise.
- Providing executive leadership over a Directorate-level entity, that provides organization leadership with 24x7 threat monitoring and situational awareness of all organizational operations.
- Playing a critical role in coordinating and supporting nation-wide deployments of organizational personnel and resources to disasters, special events, field operations, Continuity of Operations incidents, and significant events as needed.
