As a Security Specialist, you will:
- The incumbent will provide expert safeguards and security (S&S) support to the Office of Science (SC), the Office of Safety and Security, SC site offices and laboratories, and other supported sites and programs and their respective contractors.
- This incumbent will develop, implement, and monitor policies, instructions, procedures, control systems, and methods for functions and activities such as document marking, safeguarding documents, personnel access control, and security education.
- Provide technical guidance to contractor information security specialist to ensure that security requirements are met and information is protected, including performing classification reviews of information requested under the Freedom of Information Act.
- Ensure correct and uniform classification and declassification of information, materials, and products developed as a result of work performed by Federal and contractor staff.
- This incumbent will participate in the Office of Science safeguards and security survey program as a subject matter expert and/or team lead conducting survey activities of Department of Energy facilities.
- Prepare recommendations to improve the capability of the Safeguards and Security Policy in developing accurate threat assessments of malicious activity directed against Departmental assets.
