Psychologist:

The Director of Psychology Training has program and personnel management responsibilities for all components of the Psychology Training Program at the Northern Arizona VA Health Care System (NAVAHCS).

Major Duties:

  • Exercises wide latitude and independent judgment in coordinating staff and resources for the Psychology Training program.
  • Responsible for developing and implementing all aspects of the Psychology Training program.
  • Organize, direct, administer and manage all aspects of the training program including comprehensive planning, development and implementation of policies and procedures, determining needs of the program, overseeing quality and quantity of training, and establishing program initiatives and direction with the limitation of available staff and budget.
  • Core duties include national recruitment and selection of interns and local recruitment and selection of externs/practicum students, maintain comprehensive evaluation system of trainees consistent with APA guidelines, chair biweekly Psychology Training Committee meetings and annual selection meetings for the internship training program, manage work of Psychology training program, supervisors, and trainees ensuring that work is assigned in a systematic way and meets facility and VA guidelines and standards and monitor outcomes of the Psychology Training program using data-driven quality assurance processes.
  • Provide a full range of psychological services for Veterans including individual and group therapies and assessment and treatment of psychological problems through a variety of modalities.
  • Serves on Mental Health, Medical Center or VISN, and/or National VA committees or task forces as assigned.
Work Schedule: Monday through Friday: 8:00am to 4:30pm

Pay: Competitive salary and regular salary increases When setting pay, a higher step rate of the appropriate grade may be determined after consideration of higher or unique qualifications or special needs of the VA (Above Minimum Rate of the Grade).
Paid Time Off: 37-50 days of annual paid time offer per year (13-26 days of annual leave, 13 days of sick leave, 11 paid Federal holidays per year)
Selected applicants may qualify for credit toward annual leave accrual, based on prior [work experience] or military service experience.
Parental Leave: After 12 months of employment, up to 12 weeks of paid parental leave in connection with the birth, adoption, or foster care placement of a child.
Child Care Subsidy: After 60 days of employment, full time employees with a total family income below $144,000 may be eligible for a childcare subsidy up to 25% of total eligible childcare costs for eligible children up to the monthly maximum of $416.66.
Retirement: Traditional federal pension (5 years vesting) and federal 401K with up to 5% in contributions by VA
