The Electronics Technician will serve as the NIST Locksmith, responsible for administering the Locksmith Shop and associated key system on the Gaithersburg campus. Individual shall possess experience and working knowledge regarding electronic and mechanical locking hardware for cylindrical, mortise locksets, crash bar doors for the ability to adjust and repair the doors for proper functionality. Shall possess experience and working knowledge of key cores(cylinders) and their key system and components and performing repining to change key for core. Technician will be familiar with the use of power tools in respect to the performance of the installation of security locking mechanisms into materials such as wood, concrete and metal for basic installations and perform the function of creation and cutting of keys. Technician will be responsible for maintaining a Key Management System (Simple K) for identifying keying system structure and well as key cutting and identifying what door locations are configured for each key. Will be responsible for completing work order tickets for service work for mechanical and electronic locking hardware and associated key systems that will involve issuing of keys to keyholders and adhering to policies and procedures.

Technician will participate as a member on the Cyberlocks team for expanding and improving Cyberlocks program from the mechanical and lock perspective. Position will also be a purchase cardholder for purchasing items for the Division.
