The incumbent of this position serves as a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT) Program Manager for the Behavioral Health Interdisciplinary Program Collaborate Chronic Care Model (BHIP-CCM) Program in the Mental Health Service Line (MHSL) at the Cheyenne Veterans Affairs Health Care System (CVAHCS). The LMFT Program Manager works with the BHIP-CCM Associate Chief and the ACOS MHSL to provide professional and administrative leadership for a large clinical service and will be assigned to manage, direct, and oversee a tiered program within MHSL.
Scope of assigned duties include but are not limited to the following:
Management Functions:
- Develop written statements of the program's mission and desired outcomes, for delivery quality services within the limits of the program's budget and allocated FTEE's, and for the direction, adjustment, and use of all program resources.
- Independently directs and maintains clinical processes critical of this position to support the team who is accountable for the planning and delivery of clinical services, including the evaluation of productivity of direct reports, monitoring of clinics to ensure they are coded, planned, and scheduled efficiently, and that high levels of both Veteran and provider satisfaction are maintained by utilizing All Employee Survey and SAIL data.
- Responsible for quality management and improvement needs assessments, planning of activities and outcomes to routinely improve the quality of services provided as measured by SAIL, Joint Commission, VACO and best practice mandates.
- Develops and implements information systems to track service activities including visits, referrals, inpatient days (when appropriate), patient demographics, equipment utilization and patient satisfaction.
- Develops, implements, and evaluates clinical guidelines, policies, and protocols to establish appropriate utilization of services.
- Supervises a group of employees performing working various specialty care services at various VM, VN, and GS levels (e.g., psychiatrists, NP's, psychologists, counselors, social workers, etc.) and provides administrative, technical and clinical supervision necessary for accomplishing the work of the unit/service including outreach efforts, CBOC involvement and efforts at other sites within the Medical Center and/or VISN.

- Performs work related to review, monitoring, analysis, planning and assessment of various mental health clinic programs.
- Provides supportive counseling in the development and utilization representing widely divergent backgrounds, interests, and points of view.
- Provides case assessment and psychiatric diagnosis, treatment planning, and assumes ultimate responsibility for coordination of care and discharge planning. This position provides individual, couples, and group psychotherapy services to veterans with a wide range of mental health and substance use disorders.
- Maintains appropriate records including psychiatric intakes and history, treatment plans, progress notes of each psychotherapy session, and termination notes.
- Provides crisis intervention, when indicated, including evaluation, assessment, and triage of at-risk Veterans in crisis to identify immediate needs, evaluate risk, and initiate safety plan as appropriate.
May provide clinical supervision and instruction for trainees.
