We are seeking an experienced F5 Network Engineer to lead and support the design, implementation, and maintenance of advanced F5 load-balancing deployments in mission-critical enterprise environments. This role requires deep administrative expertise in F5 architectures, including migrations, operations, automation, and troubleshooting for complex F5 deployments. The ideal candidate is an F5 platform expert who can manage and innovate across the full portfolio of F5 technologies, while also possessing an understanding of associated network components such as Cisco networking, Infoblox IPAM, and Palo Alto firewalls.
F5 Network Engineer (HYBRID) Responsibilities:
- Serve as the subject matter expert for F5 technologies, including BIG-IP Local Traffic Manager (LTM), Global Traffic Manager (GTM), and F5 BIG-IQ.
- Complete the migration of VCMP guests hosted on VIPRION and iSeries load balancers to rSeries platforms, ensuring minimal application downtime.
- Design, implement, and manage enterprise-grade F5 solutions, leveraging advanced features such as iRules, iApps, and custom profiles.
- Provide proactive support for data center networking, ensuring high availability and performance across enterprise environments.
- Analyze and troubleshoot complex network and application delivery issues within F5 environments, using advanced tools and methodologies.
- Develop, maintain, and optimize iRules, policies, and configurations to meet evolving business needs.
- Provide operational support for F5 load balancers, including automation of tasks and workflows to improve efficiency.
- Deliver training sessions and technical guidance to internal teams, elevating the overall understanding of F5 technologies across the organization.
- Create and maintain detailed technical documentation, including design guides, implementation procedures, and troubleshooting runbooks.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to drive strategic projects, managing priorities and ensuring alignment with business objectives.
- Participate in an on-call rotation to provide after-hours support, as necessary.
- 5+ years of demonstrated expertise with F5 BIG-IP architecture, including deep knowledge of LTM, GTM (DNS), and advanced modules.
- Extensive experience configuring, managing, and troubleshooting F5 host, VCMP, and tenant environments.
- Advanced proficiency in writing, debugging, and optimizing iRules and iControl REST API integrations.
- Proven ability to design and implement enterprise-grade F5 solutions, including BIG-IQ management and automation strategies.
- Strong background in Cisco network administration, including Nexus platforms and advanced routing protocols (e.g., OSPF, BGP, ISIS).
- In-depth knowledge of networking protocols and technologies, such as Multicast, QoS, VLANs, etc.
- Bachelor's degree in engineering, computer science, information systems, or equivalent industry experience.
- Familiarity with cloud networking solutions and integration with F5 technologies, including security considerations.
- Experience designing and implementing data center network architectures with a focus on scalability and resilience.
- Hands-on experience with Cisco ACI network environments, including policy-based networking.
- Expertise in F5 TMOS to BIG-IP Next migration strategies.
- Proficiency with Palo Alto firewalls and Panorama for centralized management.
- Familiarity with Change, Incident, and Problem Management within the ServiceNow platform.
- Experience collaborating with OEMs to resolve issues, identify bugs, and align on roadmap strategies.
- Availability for rotational on-call responsibilities, approximately once every two months.
- Willingness to travel to corporate data centers as project needs arise.
- Must be within commuting distance to Midtown Atlanta, GA; Tucker, GA; or Alpharetta, GA.
- Adherence to a hybrid work schedule, with two in-office days
