The Technical Product Manager is a member of a high-performing team that focuses on the development and implementation of a world-class online learning platform (LXP). The Technical Product Manager is part of a team responsible for owning, driving, and maintaining multiple technical products of the LXP platform while establishing and using industry-class software development practices and workflows. The Technical Product Manager will contribute to a culture of collaboration and openness within the team and with partners.

Typical Core Duties:
  • Simplify problems and write clear, detailed requirements in easy-to-understand language for developers, engineers, and business users.
  • Own and drive assigned technical product or a portfolio of products, delivering updates on products to all levels of the organization including senior management.
  • Possess sufficient technological understanding to assess feasibility, decide on product design approaches, and make decisions on the implementation strategy with the support of technical teams if needed.
  • Embed into products deep understanding of our business ecosystem, business user behaviors, consumer behaviors with a focus on step-change and growth.
  • Build products to ensure scalability, incorporating different needs into the roadmap, driving uniformity wherever possible and enabling customization where strategically warranted.
  • Create and update internal metrics of your products, including OKRs, KPIs etc.
  • This role is also responsible for other duties as assigned.


Basic Qualifications

  • Minimum of five years' post-secondary education or relevant work experience


Additional Qualifications and Skills

  • 5+ years in product management, operations, data science/engineering, technology, or strategic consulting
  • Strong experience with product development and a technical background.
  • Familiarity with microservice-based applications, code library package management, and related technologies.
  • Understanding of trunk-based development patterns.
  • Ability to influence multiple stakeholders without direct authority.
  • Experience working in agile methodology.

Work Format Details

HUIT actively supports hybrid work where business needs allow. The Work Format for this position can be flexible based on the needs of the candidate.

  • Primarily on-site (on campus 3 or more days per week)
  • Partially on-site (on campus 1-2 days per week)
  • Primarily remote (on campus less than 1 day per week)


Travel to campus may be necessary based on business needs and the nature of work. Examples include bi-annual or quarterly Town Halls, critical business meetings or other work events.

All remote work must be performed within one of the Harvard Registered Payroll States, which currently includes Massachusetts, Connecticut, Maine, New Hampshire, Rhode Island, Vermont, Georgia, Illinois, Maryland, New Jersey, New York, Virginia, Washington, and California (CA for exempt positions only). Certain visa types and funding sources may limit work location. Individuals must meet work location sponsorship requirements prior to employment.
