Communications Manager – St. Louis, MO (Open to Remote)

As a Communications Manager, whether curating, editing or writing content, your role is to strive to convey complex and technical topics in conversational, relatable language that encourages stakeholders to take action.

Qualifications:

  • 10+ years news-style writing and editing experience (will need to submit 3-5 samples).
  • Exceptional organization and project planning skills; attention to detail.
  • Ability to balance competing priorities while being disciplined in adhering to overall strategy.
  • Experience getting up to speed on a variety of topics while delivering news in a real-talk, jargon-free format.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and evaluate solutions and alternatives with Communication Consultants and Relationship Managers in support of a plan sponsor’s communication strategy and the participant experience.
  • Advise business partners on how to most efficiently use resources to achieve goals, demonstrating and enhancing existing content where possible.
  • Manage the content development process for communication and education materials, from creative execution and compliance approval to fulfillment via web, direct mail, email, presentations, and digital signage within given timelines.

Market Leader Newsletter Pilot

Communications Lead for monthly Market Leader newsletter (50-70%):

  • Lead writer and editor for 1 Market Leader, working with and through Enterprise Communication liaison and the Market Leader's coordination team to develop a tailored monthly newsletter for the market.
  • Align content to overall Enterprise Communication strategy, sharing a mix of customized enterprise news and market-specific content; some content will be net-new, while other content may be repurposed or further tailored to leader's voice and call to action.
  • Set up cadence of editorial planning meetings/content brainstorming meetings with Enterprise Communications Leader and Market Leader.
  • Maintain an editorial planning calendar.
  • Write and edit agreed upon content aligned to style guide (writer will be trained on Axios SmartBrevity approach as part of overall onboarding and training).
  • Format newsletter in internal delivery platform (Amplify) in previously created template, and eventually publish content following training and trial period.
  • Review and assess newsletter metrics and adjust approach accordingly to maximize content based on readership and feedback.
  • Develop and maintain SOP on newsletter creation and best practices for potential scaling.

Ad hoc writing and content creation (30-50%):

  • While Market Leader newsletter is in pilot stage, take on additional enterprise communications content development work as needed.
  • The balance and scope of responsibilities will be re-evaluated as pilots potentially scale and efficiencies are gained in the newsletter process over time.
