Andrews & Cole is actively assisting a long time client with its search for a Senior Accountant (Hybrid, in Washington DC metro). Our client is a well-established and profitable organization with a strong track record of employee development and retention. They are offering competitive compensation, and looking to hire quickly.
Salary: $90k-$115k
Responsibilities:
- Financial Reporting and Analysis; Executing and Monitoring Month-End Close Activity:
- Prepare and analyze monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
- Prepare IFRS package reporting.
- Ensure accuracy and completeness of financial records and reports.
- Conduct variance analysis to explain differences between actual and budgeted figures.
- Provide financial insights and recommendations to management for decision-making.
- Oversee the maintenance of the general ledger.
- Ensure all transactions are recorded accurately and in a timely manner.
- Perform month-end and year-end closing activities.
- Ensure compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and other regulatory requirements.
- Coordinate and support external and internal audits.
- Implement and monitor internal controls to safeguard company assets.
- Assist in the preparation of the annual budget and financial forecasts.
- Monitor budget performance and provide regular reports to management.
- Identify and explain budget variances.
- Participate in or lead special projects as required.
- Assist in system implementations and process improvements.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with departments to provide data support and ensure accurate financial reporting and alignment of business objectives.
- Supports special projects and ad-hoc reporting as needed.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; CPA or CMA certification preferred
- Minimum of 2-4 years of experience in finance, progressive accounting experience with at least two years of experience reviewing journal entries and account reconciliations
- Big 4 experience (or large national public accounting firm) preferred
- Strong knowledge of accounting principles, financial reporting standards, and tax regulations; thorough understanding of GAAP and SOX best practices
- Proficiency in financial software and systems, including ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning) software
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Strong organizational skills, with the ability to prioritize and execute swiftly with attention to detail in a fast-paced environment
- Ability to work effectively under pressure and meet tight deadlines
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Ability to identify process improvements, propose effective solutions and execute efficiently
- Time management skills to meet deadlines
