Andrews & Cole is actively assisting a long time client with its search for a Senior Accountant (Hybrid, in Washington DC metro). Our client is a well-established and profitable organization with a strong track record of employee development and retention. Salary: $90k-$115k

Responsibilities:

  • Financial Reporting and Analysis; Executing and Monitoring Month-End Close Activity:
  • Prepare and analyze monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
  • Prepare IFRS package reporting.
  • Ensure accuracy and completeness of financial records and reports.
  • Conduct variance analysis to explain differences between actual and budgeted figures.
  • Provide financial insights and recommendations to management for decision-making.
  • Oversee the maintenance of the general ledger.
  • Ensure all transactions are recorded accurately and in a timely manner.
  • Perform month-end and year-end closing activities.
  • Ensure compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and other regulatory requirements.
  • Coordinate and support external and internal audits.
  • Implement and monitor internal controls to safeguard company assets.
  • Assist in the preparation of the annual budget and financial forecasts.
  • Monitor budget performance and provide regular reports to management.
  • Identify and explain budget variances.
  • Participate in or lead special projects as required.
  • Assist in system implementations and process improvements.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with departments to provide data support and ensure accurate financial reporting and alignment of business objectives.
  • Supports special projects and ad-hoc reporting as needed.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; CPA or CMA certification preferred
  • Minimum of 2-4 years of experience in finance, progressive accounting experience with at least two years of experience reviewing journal entries and account reconciliations
  • Big 4 experience (or large national public accounting firm) preferred
  • Strong knowledge of accounting principles, financial reporting standards, and tax regulations; thorough understanding of GAAP and SOX best practices
  • Proficiency in financial software and systems, including ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning) software
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong organizational skills, with the ability to prioritize and execute swiftly with attention to detail in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to work effectively under pressure and meet tight deadlines
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Ability to identify process improvements, propose effective solutions and execute efficiently
  • Time management skills to meet deadlines
