Requirements Of The Civil Engineering Department Manager
- A Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering is required.
- Professional Engineer (PE) registration is required, with preference for North Carolina and South Carolina licensure.
- At least 8 years of experience in engineering design and project management.
- Proven ability to excel in a dynamic, multidisciplinary environment with tight deadlines and the flexibility to manage shifting project priorities and multiple client demands.
- Extensive experience in land development, including site planning, grading design, and preparation of construction documents.
- Capability to coordinate projects and tasks with other department managers, engineers, surveyors, and planners.
- Experience in mentoring project managers and design staff.
- Familiarity with AutoCAD Civil 3D and other design software is preferred; however, the role focuses on understanding software rather than performing design tasks.
- Strong business development and financial management skills.
- Experience with codes, standards, and technical specifications from authorities having jurisdiction.
- Proficiency in developing and designing construction details.
- Experience with implementing a formal QA/QC program.
- Strong collaboration skills and experience presenting to boards, commissions, or councils is advantageous.
- Candidate must pass a drug screening, background check, and meet the company's driving record (MVR) standards.
- 100% in-office role.
