BHS is on the lookout for a talented PLC Engineer to become part of our Sustaining Engineering team. In this hybrid position, you’ll utilize your expertise in PLC code creation and troubleshooting, while also guiding and developing junior Electrical Engineers and Electronics Technicians. The role will require up to 30% travel in the initial stages.

Qualifications We're Seeking

We are in search of a candidate with 3-7 years of hands-on experience in PLC code development and field troubleshooting. While a degree in Electrical Engineering is preferred, those with an EET or related degree, paired with relevant experience, are also encouraged to apply. This role involves working at a computer for up to 8 hours per day and the ability to lift up to 25 pounds.

Core Skills Needed

  • Expertise in Siemens PLC Step 7 STL, Simatic Manager, TIA Portal, and Simatic WinCC-HMI
  • Familiarity with CodeSys
  • Experience with PLC controllers, including S7-200, S7-300, S7-400, S7-1200, and S7-1500
  • Proficiency in HMI systems such as Simatic Basic, Comfort, and Advanced HMI
  • Knowledge of IPC-Simatic industrial PCs
  • Drive and encoder experience (Lenze preferred)
  • Profibus analyzer experience
  • Middleware and Data Tag knowledge (a plus)
  • Experience with Safety PLC/Relay systems

Key Responsibilities

  • Mentor and train junior Electrical Engineers and Electronics Technicians in PLC troubleshooting and minor programming tasks
  • Provide remote support for field technicians with troubleshooting drives, encoders, and sensors
  • Carry out patch/bug fix programming for PLC systems, including deployment and rollback as needed
  • Perform checks on Electrical IO lists
  • Integrate third-party devices, such as robots, vision systems, and printers, with PLC systems
  • Design HMI screens and provide operational training to users

Travel Expectations

  • First Year: 30% travel (focused on equipment learning)
  • Second Year and beyond: 10% travel (to support customer visits or resolve complex issues)
