Position Overview

LoBio, a healthtech startup founded by two Cornell PhDs, is seeking a highly motivated and engaged Process Engineer to help reimagine the future of blood testing. We have developed a patented blood/plasma separation technology that replaces the centrifuge. Our first device, the P1, allows anyone to collect high quality plasma from the comfort of their home within minutes. We are financially backed by both industry and operating experts and are graduates of several prestigious accelerator programs including Techstars Healthcare ’24, Creative Destruction Lab – Health & Wellness ’24, and Mount Sinai Elementa Labs ’24.

The Process Engineer will be responsible for executing biochemistry procedures, preparing reagents, materials, and sample collection kits, and documentation for LoBio’s product portfolio. This is a great opportunity to be fully immersed in a fast paced, innovative startup with strong growth potential.

Key Responsibilities

  • Process Development: Design, optimize, and scale-up biochemical processes from the lab to full-scale production.
  • Data Analysis: Monitor and analyze process data to identify areas for improvement, ensuring maximum efficiency and product yield.
  • Quality Assurance: Ensure that all processes comply with industry standards (GMP, FDA regulations).
  • Equipment Operation: Operate and maintain relevant laboratory instruments and equipment.
  • Documentation: Prepare and maintain technical documents, SOPs, and batch records.
  • R&D: Contribute to research projects, including ideation, experimentation, data collection, and results communication.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Biochemistry or related field (Master’s preferred).
  • 3+ years of experience in bioprocess engineering, with a focus on biochemical or bioassay production.
  • Strong understanding of bioprocessing techniques (protein purification, lyophilization, immunochemistry).
  • Proficiency with bioprocessing equipment and analytical tools.
  • Experience with regulatory compliance and quality assurance standards.

Preferred Skills

  • Familiarity with automation and control systems for bioprocessing.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work in a collaborative, cross-functional team environment.
  • Entrepreneurial, self-starter, ability to learn independently, and motivated to learn new concepts.

Compensation: $75,000 - $90,000 (based on candidate’s experience and fit) + Stock Options.
