Mutual of Omaha Legal team is looking for an Assistant General Counsel to join the team. This role's key focus will be complex technology contracts, including open source software, data, and Artificial Intelligence and Insurance & Financial Services information security laws and regulations.
WHAT WE CAN OFFER YOU:
  • Estimated Salary: $123,000 - $209,000, plus annual bonus opportunity.
  • , 401(k) plan with a 2% company contribution and 6% company match.
  • Unlimited vacation each year.
  • Regular associates receive 11 paid holidays in 2024.

WHAT YOU'LL DO:
  • Provide the enterprise legal counsel on matters related to technology, innovation, data security, outsourcing, and data governance. Provide practical, actionable advice in a highly regulated environment.
  • Draft, review, and negotiate technology contracts.
  • Research and stay updated on developments in technology, contracts, data security, outsourcing, and data governance laws and regulations.
  • Assist on cybersecurity, third party, and privacy incident response.
  • Support operational excellence efforts related to legal and compliance processes.

WHAT YOU'LL BRING:
  • 5-7 years of experience.
  • Significant complex technology contracts experience, including all licensing models, customized platforms, open source software, data, and Artificial Intelligence.
  • Experience in US-based insurance and financial services information security laws and regulations, including incident response is a plus.
  • Excellent collaboration skills, building strong relationships with teammates and internal stakeholders.
  • Strong communication abilities to explain complex legal concepts in a clear, concise manner.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously while staying organized and detail-oriented.
  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school with an active bar license to practice in-house in the State of Nebraska.

  • Ability to work at our home office located in Omaha, Nebraska, in a hybrid environment.

PREFERRED:
  • 5-7 years complex technology transactions experience
  • Legal and regulatory experience in technology matters for insurance (AI, data use, state laws, etc.), including cybersecurity incident response experience, a plus
