Duties

  • Serve as Force Protection, Physical Security Officer and Information Security Specialist for the White Sands Missile Range G2.
  • Maintain and implement the security elements of the WSTC Emergency Action Plan.
  • Write, update and administer security Standing Operating Procedures (SOPs) for an assigned White Sands Test Center (WSTC) directorate.
  • Authoritative point of contact for all inspections conducted by local and higher headquarters.
  • Manage the Velocity access control system for the WSTC.
  • Review, coordinate and process the required user documentation for System Access Authorization Requests (DD2875).

  • This is an obligated position. An obligated position is one to which an employee has statutory restoration rights or entitlement based on active military service, recovery from a compensable injury, or return rights based on an overseas tour.
  • You will be asked to sign an agreement acknowledging that you are aware of the obligation and willing to be displaced under reduction in force procedures upon the return of the former incumbent.
  • Incumbent is required to submit a Confidential Financial Disclosure Report, OGE-450, (5CFR Part 2634, Subpart I Confidential Financial Disclosure Reports) upon entering the position and annually.
  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • This position requires the incumbent obtain the following core SPeD Certification: Security Fundamentals Professional Certification (SFPC) within their first two years of employment.
  • This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Secret security clearance or access for the duration of employment. A background investigation and credit check may be required.

In order to qualify, you must meet the education and/or experience requirements described below. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes (1) experience examining security documents to determine the suitability of personnel; (2) experience assisting in conducting on site security inspections of units, activities, and/or an organization in accordance with all applicable policies; and (3) experience assisting in implementing of policy and procedures for the personnel information and physical security program within an organization. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the second lower grade/level position in the federal service (NH-01/GS-05).

Education: Four years of study leading to a bachelor's degree.

Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) by 18. Add the two percentages.

  • Position may be filled as a time-limited promotion, reassignment or change to lower grade not to exceed (NTE) 3 years by a current permanent Army employee. Time-limited promotions may be extended up to a maximum of five years. Time-limited reassignments and changes to lower grade may exceed five years, however return rights may be impacted.
  • Position May be made permanent without further competition.
