Leidos is currently seeking a Modeling Software Engineer to support the Administration for Preparedness and Response within HHS. Be a part of a nimble software development team working on cutting-edge, open-source, agent-based simulation development. Work as part of a small team of developers and have the opportunity to work on tasks across the spectrum of software development.

Collaborate with both senior developers as well as end-user analysts to elicit requirements, translate those analytical requirements into technical software requirements, and then engineer solutions to those requirements. This position provides the opportunity to work on new and loosely defined problem spaces, not simply code to a class definition or API contract.

Responsibilities Include:
  • Collaborate with a team to develop and enhance agent-based simulations.
  • Implement agent-based simulations and contribute to research and development efforts.
  • Participate in code reviews and maintain high-quality standards.

Required Qualifications, Skills, and Education:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Engineering, or a related discipline with two or more years of experience in Information Technology or software development, with an emphasis on software development.
  • ; Currently possess or ability to successfully obtain/maintain a public trust clearance
  • Self-starter and able to troubleshoot issues independently.
  • Proficiency in Git and familiarity with common workflows (branching, merging).
  • Experience with object-oriented programming.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications, Skills, and Education:
  • Demonstrated knowledge and skills with Java (basic understanding or higher).
  • Familiarity with Maven for project management and dependency resolution.
  • Proven abilities in simulation modeling, particularly agent-based frameworks.
  • Basic understanding of DevOps practices, including CI/CD pipelines.
  • Established abilities utilizing GitHub for collaboration and version control.

Pay Range:

Pay Range $65,000.00 - $117,500.00
