Tax Manager

We are offering a short term contract employment opportunity for a Tax Manager in Hayward, California. The candidate will play a critical role in managing tax-related tasks across various entities. The industry primarily focuses on retail customers, and the role will be performed in a corporate remote setting.

Responsibilities:
Manage payroll taxes, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
Utilize Paylocity for payroll and tax management.
Oversee the transition of multiple legal entities into one.
Manage and resolve issues related to late fees and liens.
Utilize Avalara for Sales Tax management.
Use NetSuite for various tax-related tasks.
Manage Property Tax for operating leases.
Act as a tax administrator, understanding enough to identify potential issues.
Manage sales/use tax certificate for retail customers.
Utilize skills in 'Avalara' and 'Vertex Sales & Use Tax' for various tax-related tasks. Must hold a bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
CPA or Enrolled Agent certification is required
At least 5 years of experience in a tax management role or similar position
Proven experience with tax preparation and planning
Familiarity with tax software, specifically Avalara and Vertex Sales & Use Tax
Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
Strong attention to detail and accuracy
Ability to manage multiple tasks and projects simultaneously
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Strong leadership skills and the ability to work in a team environment
Knowledge of current tax laws and regulations
Able to maintain confidentiality of sensitive financial information
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel
Strong organizational skills and the ability to meet deadlines
Ability to interpret and apply complex tax legislation.
