Regional Fleet & Equipment Manager

Job Summary

The Regional Fleet Equipment Manager will oversee the regional fleet equipment team, implementing processes and systems to improve operations, maintenance, compliance, and overall performance of the company s fleet assets. The primary objective of this role is to reduce costs, enhance efficiency, and increase productivity while effectively managing all regional fixed assets.

Key Responsibilities

Team Leadership

Supervise and mentor the regional Fleet Coordinator, Mechanics, and Yard Associates, fostering a collaborative and high-performance work environment. Conduct regular performance evaluations and provide ongoing training and development opportunities.

Fleet Equipment

Oversee daily fleet operations, ensuring vehicles are maintained, repaired, and ready for use. Inspect and evaluate fleet equipment, recommending repairs and/or replacements as necessary. Maintain comprehensive records of fleet inventories, assignments, and usage. Conduct semi-annual inventory on all local fixed assets. Evaluate fleet purchase requests and make informed recommendations. o Review engineering standards, prepare specifications, and assist in preparing requisitions for fleet equipment. Conduct inspections of vehicles upon new delivery or prior to selling.

Equipment Management

Perform in-service receipt, registration, and delivery of fleet equipment. Tracking of regional trucks; trailers, tools, testing equipment, yellow iron and other fixed assets. Work with Operations to develop and review work plans to determine workflow needs and schedules.

Maintenance Practices

Review and establish fleet maintenance practices and procedures, ensuring adherence to quality control standards. Ensure PMs, calibration programs, and GPS systems are working and up to date. Manage the inventory of parts and supplies, ensuring that the yard is well-stocked for maintenance and repairs. Collaborate with the Fleet Director on vehicle procurement and disposal strategies.

Regulatory Compliance

Develop plans to ensure fleet compliance with federal, state, and local laws and regulations governing fleet operations. Ensure all equipment is up to date on annual PMs, registrations, insurance, or any safety or government requirements.

Reporting and Recommendations

Analyze data, prepare reports, and make recommendations for addressing budgetary, procurement, procedural, and other fleet-related issues. o Identify opportunities for process improvements in fleet operations and maintenance. o Implement best practices and innovative solutions to enhance efficiency and reduce downtime. o Liaise with internal departments to understand fleet needs and ensure timely and effective service delivery.

Qualifications

Must have High School Diploma, or GED 3+ years of experience in fleet management or related fields, with at least 2 years in a supervisory role. Good understanding of vehicle repair processes, and fleet operations. Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills. Proficient in fleet management software and Microsoft Office Suite. Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret data and make informed decisions. Knowledge of safety regulations and compliance standards in fleet management.
