Position Overview:

Roles & Responsibilities

The Director of Acquisitions & Asset Management is a key position and responsible for identifying and acquiring new business opportunities to fuel IVP’s growth. They will identify potential clients, negotiate agreements, and manage relationships to ensure the smooth acquisition of new practices and business opportunities. The Director of Acquisitions & Asset Management will develop and execute effective acquisition strategies. The role involves managing the entire acquisition process from initial prospect identification, through the negotiation and due diligence phase, to closing the deal. Additionally, this position will work closely with executive leadership to ensure property holdings and leasing arrangements are aligned to company objectives. Regular functions common in the day-to-day duties of the Director of Acquistions include, but are not limited to:

  • Conduct market research to identify new business opportunities. Advise and evaluate deal rationale, financial projections, risk assessment, and financial implications.
  • Build strategies for determining benchmarks, managing geographies, and adhering to methodologies that the company will use to seek out hospital acquisition targets and lead the process toward purchase of them
  • Protect and hold confidential all aspects of contacts with sellers, partners and other stakeholders as well as results and internal data as the company seeks to acquire locations and maintain the integrity of its processes, communications and strategies toward its goals and strategies.
  • Develop and execute acquisition and real estate management strategies
  • Build relationships with potential acquisition stakeholders
  • Conduct due diligence and financial analysis of potential targets. Partner with finance as needed to conduct valuation studies and analysis
  • Plan and implement negotiation strategies and lead the negotiations with key stakeholders. Negotiate deal terms and finalize acquisition agreements
  • Lead a cross-functional team ensuring finance/accounting, legal, human resources, and operations partners are engaged and effective throughout the acquisition and onboarding process
  • Coordinate with internal teams to ensure successful integration of acquired companies
  • Create specific objectives for department and develop budgets, policies, procedures to support functional infrastructure
  • Evaluate and manage the company’s real estate portfolio across multiple regions and markets. Ensure the company investment doesn't depreciate and mitigate exposure to risk
  • Partner with leasing agents, communicate with landlords, and negotiate leasing contracts as needed
  • Partner with key stakeholders on capital improvement and property investments
  • As requested by the CEO, prepare and deliver company updates, serve as a voice of the company for the industry at large and communicate with the veterinary and business media for the purposes of representing the company in the highest regard and protecting the reputation of the brand
  • Leverage contacts across the veterinary industry for the purpose of enhancing the capabilities, reputation and impact of the company within the veterinary industry

Requirements

Education And Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in business or a related field (or equivalent experience); MBA preferred
  • 7+ years of experience in mergers and acquisitions or business development
  • 5+ years of leadership or managerial experience
  • Demonstrated experience leading teams (direct reports or cross-functional)
  • Deep knowledge of veterinary services and experience preferred
  • Moderate proficiency Microsoft Office (including Outlook, Word and Excel) and Teams.
