Director of Engineering: An exciting opportunity for an experienced Director of Engineering to lead and oversee engineering efforts across growing research and development activities as well as a fabrication and industrial manufacturing facility in the Baltimore, MD area. This high-profile, hands-on role involves collaboration with global teams and requires strong leadership and technical expertise. The position is based in Nottingham, MD. Required Qualifications:

  • Education: BS in Mechanical Engineering required; advanced degree preferred
  • Experience: A minimum of 5 years of progressive experience in applying blast physics methodology in closed structures
  • Technical Proficiency: Expertise in SolidWorks CAD and FEM analysis with at least 5 years of proven experience
  • Project Management: Advanced skills in MS Project, including Gantt charts, WBS, and SOW definition
  • Analytical Skills: Strong problem-solving and analytical skills with attention to detail
  • Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills for effective collaboration with teams and stakeholders
  • Adaptability: Ability to multitask, think creatively, and provide solutions with a positive, can-do attitude
  • Specialized Knowledge: Familiarity with DOD UFC 3-340-02, ASTM E2639-12, ASTM E2740-12, and blast physics in closed structures is a plus
  • Citizenship: MUST be a US Citizen due to legal contracts


Duties

  • Systems/Mechanical Engineering: Design systems using a systems/mechanical engineering approach, focusing on cost-effective production techniques, design-to-cost, and value engineering
  • Team Management: Lead and manage both internal and contract engineering teams to achieve project goals
  • R&D Leadership: Drive or support research and development activities as assigned, ensuring innovation and technical excellence
  • Product Oversight: Oversee the design, functionality, and testing processes for internal products, ensuring alignment with project requirements and company goals
  • Technical Support: Provide engineering support to various departments including business units, quality control, and manufacturing
  • Opportunity Identification: Conduct daily searches in government databases to identify and track new opportunities
  • Proposal Development: Lead and support proposal efforts, including contributing technical writing when necessary
  • Data Management: Control and manage Technical Data Packages using SolidWorks CAD, Microsoft Office, and ERP system tools for inventory and manufacturing management
  • Additional Duties: Perform other tasks as assigned by management to support business needs
