Role

The Special Projects Manager will act as an extension of and work directly with the Chief of Staff and Special Projects on organizing, leading and executing projects, from initial planning to final implementation. In the role, you will partner collaboratively with internal cross-functional teams, regional partners and external vendors to ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget and aligned with the company’s objective. Sample projects include but are not limited to:

  • Flagship launch and operations
  • New business model tests
  • New market expansion project management
  • New product category expansion
  • Company event organization and execution

The ideal candidate is a focused, versatile team player who demonstrates the knowledge, resourcefulness, and techniques required to meet project requirements and expectations. You’re a proactive leader with an entrepreneurial mindset. You are able self-prioritize and are comfortable working under pressure. Excellent communication skills and confidence in managing stakeholders at varying levels are essential.

What You Do

  • Work across various internal groups and external partners to execute projects
  • Initiate planning with involved departments to select project team members and design overall project plans
  • Plan and create detailed project timelines, identifying key deliverables and milestones
  • Oversee and manage project activities, ensuring project progress is proceeding according to timelines
  • Proactively identify potential risks or issues and help develop strategies to mitigate risks
  • Keep key stakeholders appropriately informed of project status and accountable for respective parts through scheduled meeting cadence
  • Build mutual trust and encourage respect and cooperation among team members
  • Analyze narrative and statistical information to help inform decision-making
  • Manage project’s overall budget – initial forecasting, expense monitoring and identifying opportunities for cost reduction
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • 4+ years prior experience as a project manager
  • Agile project management experience is a plus
  • Must be an excellent communicator with strong interpersonal skills
  • Track record of delivering successful projects on time and within budget
  • Proven success leading cross-functional teams and processes
  • Adept at operating autonomously amidst ambiguity
  • Demonstrate awareness of own limitations and the ability to seek guidance from subject matter experts, colleagues, etc
  • Previous experience with project management tool (i.e. Asana, MS Projects, Smartsheet, etc) required
  • Fluent in basic tech tools like Outlook, Word, and Excel
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent preferred
  • Must be able to work from corporate office at least 60% of the week
  • Ability to travel, if necessary

The expected base salary range for this position is $85,000 to $95,000 per year. The exact base salary is determined by various factors including experience, skills, education, geographic location, and budget.

This position is also eligible for participation in the company discretionary bonus plan, based on personal performance and company results.
