Summary:
The Sr. Technical Program Manager will lead and execute large-scale migrations of customer applications to new platforms or technologies. This role requires a strong technical background, excellent project management skills, and a meticulous approach to ensure a smooth and successful transition for customers.
Responsibilities:
Stakeholder Management: Communicate effectively with executive leadership of AMEX. Clearly communicate project status, risks, and issues to stakeholders at all levels. Facilitate cross-functional collaboration between technical teams, business units, and external vendors.
Plan and scope the project: Define project objectives, deliverables, and dependencies in collaboration with stakeholders across various teams, including engineering, product, security, compliance, and operations.
Design and implement the migration strategy: Collaborate with technical teams to develop and implement a migration strategy that minimizes disruption to customers and ensures a seamless transition.
Manage application testing and validation: Develop and execute comprehensive test plans to validate the migrated applications' functionality, performance, and compatibility with the new platform.
Manage cutover and post-migration activities: Coordinate the cutover process to migrate customers to the new platform and ensure a smooth transition. Provide ongoing support and troubleshooting during the post-migration period.
Document and report on progress: Maintain detailed project documentation, including plans, specifications, test results, and migration reports. Track and report on key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure project success.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, or a related field.
10+ years of experience in technical program management, with a focus on complex application migration projects.
Strong understanding of application architecture, software development methodologies, and cloud technologies.
Experience with application migration tools and processes with an emphasis in java, mainframe, pega, dot net tech stack
Familiarity with data security and privacy regulations (e.g., GDPR, CCPA).
Proven ability to manage complex technical projects with multiple stakeholders and proven ability to communicate with executive leadership.
Excellent planning, organizational, and time management skills.
Experience with Agile methodologies is preferred.
Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.
Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to build relationships with cross-functional teams.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify and resolve technical issues.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Preferred skills:
Experience with specific application migration tools or technologies relevant to AMEX's needs.
Certifications in project management (e.g., PMP) or application development.
Experience in the financial services industry.

This Enterprise Program is focused on optimizing customer data flows to leverage Customer 360 (C360) as the primary demographics data source and eliminating integration with legacy sources. More than 35 delivery teams and 90 assessment teams are impacted and must be uplifted to C360 by the end of 2025. The Solution Architect is responsible to analyze the scope and design optimal technology migration solution that can be reusable for similar application migration.
