Job Summary

We are looking for an attentive and driven Remote Sensing Engineer to join our team. Your main duties will be developing, implementing, and testing signal and data processing algorithms to exploit various earth observation data in support of analytics built around synthetic aperture radar (SAR) and other remote sensing data. Day-to-day responsibilities will be primarily focused around developing code in various stages of maturity (from prototype to production level) in a fast paced environment to solve problems in a multitude of applications. Projects can range from data processing and analysis to data fusion approaches to machine learning model building and testing.

This position will sit within the Platform Analytics Team and work closely with other members of the Platform Analytics and broader Technology, GIS Operations, and Solutioning teams.

Job Responsibilities

  • Contribute to the design and development of state-of-the-art algorithms for processing geospatial and remote sensing data
  • Research ongoing advances in the domain of geospatial information, remote sensing, and data fusion to serve as a point of contact for subject matter in these areas to a cross-functional team
  • Perform analysis to determine expected performance of processing algorithms informed by new or existing customer use cases
  • Provide advice and analysis to support the design and development of software infrastructure for managing geospatial data
  • Develop proof-of-concept demonstrations for internal and external use
  • Collaborate on creative data fusion solutions to challenging geospatial monitoring problems
  • Participate in software development processes to help bring algorithms into operational use
  • Participate in design discussions and code reviews
  • Communicate effectively and collaborate frequently with peers
  • All other duties as assigned

Requirements

  • B.S Engineering, Computer Science, Mathematics, Physics, or a related discipline
  • Proficiency in Python
  • Prior experience developing code to process geospatial data, apply computer vision, or signal processing algorithms
  • Familiarity with geospatial information and common libraries like GDAL and Geopandas
  • Ability to communicate technical information clearly and effectively
  • Experience working on a cross-functional team developing solutions to complex tasks
  • Active curiosity and a desire to learn and grow as a technical expert

Preferred Skills/Qualifications

  • M.S. or Ph.D. in Engineering, Computer Science, Mathematics, Physics, or a related discipline
  • Understanding of statistical analysis techniques
  • Working knowledge of SAR, GPS, AIS, RF, and/or other forms of location tracking data
  • Experience with modeling and simulation of geospatial data
  • Experience developing GPU accelerated code in Python
  • Experience with Cloud services (AWS, Google Cloud Platform)
  • Familiarity with GIS software packages, such as ArcGIS or ENVI
  • Experience adhering to security best practices

Location

  • Hybrid or remote. We are headquartered in Ithaca, NY and have a remote workforce throughout the United States

Compensation

  • $80,000 - $120,000, depending on experience and skills
