Summary:

The organization is seeking a Program Manager to oversee partnerships with higher education institutions across Massachusetts. The focus is on creating opportunities for IT internships and projects in areas like Artificial Intelligence (AI), Data Science, and Cybersecurity. These collaborations aim to bring the organization together with IT students to develop technology solutions that improve services for citizens.

The Program Manager will manage the development of partnerships, act as a liaison between higher education institutions and the organization, and ensure successful program execution from both the student and organizational perspectives. The primary work location for this role is Boston, MA, and the schedule is Monday through Friday, 9 AM to 5 PM.

Higher Education Partnerships Include:

  1. AI Cohort:
    • Leverage student talent to explore generative AI applications in state government.
    • Collaborate with policy, technical staff, university personnel, and students. Students are paid under this partnership, and universities participate in supervision and administration.
  2. Data Academic Partnership:
    • Engage students to work on data science projects for the state. Students earn course credit while universities supervise and administer the program.
  3. Fellowship:
    • The organization recruits students for specific IT teams. The university pays the students while the organization supervises.
  4. Summer Internship:
    • The organization recruits students for IT roles over a 10-week summer period, managing the program and paying students directly.

Program Manager Responsibilities:

AI Cohort and Academic Partnerships:

  • Identify use cases in AI, Data, and Cybersecurity within state departments.
  • Conduct surveys to gauge interest and assess feasibility of partnerships.
  • Coordinate meetings to vet use cases, allocate resources, and forecast capacity for supporting interns.
  • Work with leadership to select final projects.
  • Manage and coordinate initiatives with schools and departments, creating project plans with milestones.
  • Serve as the primary liaison between higher education institutions and departments, ensuring deliverables are met and project success is achieved.
  • Communicate regularly with stakeholders and provide in-progress assessments of student performance.
  • Ensure accurate records of agreements and activities, preparing status reports and tracking budget compliance.

Fellowship and Summer Internship Programs:

  • Collaborate with the recruitment team to facilitate the selection and placement of Fellows and interns.
  • Develop relationships with higher education institutions to promote internship and fellowship opportunities.
  • Plan and oversee summer program activities including events and final presentations.
  • Ensure quality work experiences by partnering with IT teams to develop projects that align with students' academic and professional goals.
  • Evaluate student success through surveys and assessments.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 3-5 years of experience in partnership development or program management.
  • Knowledge of higher education partnership development and management.
  • Experience in IT areas like AI, Data Science, and Cybersecurity.
  • Ability to lead technical discussions and serve as a liaison between organizations and educational institutions.
  • Strong project planning and execution skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills for effective collaboration and teamwork.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Ability to analyze data, identify issues, and develop solutions.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and project management tools.
  • Understanding of budget management and financial oversight.
