The Operations Lead will play a critical role in supporting the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) Electronic Health Record Modernization Integration Office (EHRM-IO) program. As the Operations / Communications Lead, you will oversee the strategic communications efforts, ensuring an integrated approach to internal, external, and cross-functional communication capabilities across the EHRM-IO. You will serve as a trusted advisor to the Senior Communications Executive, ensuring consistent messaging and brand alignment related to the Federal Electronic Health Record (EHR).

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the planning and execution of strategic communications across the EHRM-IO, managing a unified team of communications practitioners.
  • Collaborate closely with change management and deployment experts to enhance communications for end users transitioning to the Federal EHR.
  • Oversee the development and launch of consistent branding for the Federal EHR across multiple federal platforms.
  • Revise and enhance internal program processes, optimizing the intake and management of communications requests to improve team workflow and efficiency.
  • Manage operational activities and key priorities within front office functions, ensuring documentation and process development align with organizational goals.
  • Conduct detailed problem-solving and critical thinking to drive continuous improvement initiatives across the program.
  • Develop executive-level briefings and talking points for senior executives (SES and above), including supporting Secretary-level engagements.
  • Oversee the production of high-quality deliverables, ensuring accuracy and attention to detail in a fast-paced environment. Conduct senior-level reviews of communications products.
  • Conduct in-depth research on EHRM program topics, engaging with subject matter experts to ensure communications are accurate and reflect an integrated program perspective.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Systems, Business, or a related technical/scientific discipline.
  • 10 years of additional relevant experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
  • 15+ years of experience in a related field, with a strong background in communications, operations, or project management.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead strategic communications and project management efforts in a high-stakes environment.
  • Strong critical thinking, problem-solving, and leadership skills.
  • Experience working within large federal or healthcare programs is preferred.
