Job Summary

The Analyst assists in maintaining the routine configuration, data standards and database management of the primary Constituent Relationship Manager (CRM) of record - Altru at the time of this posting and its relationship with upstream and downstream systems. The Analyst will optimize data flow processes, aid in reporting and, in collaboration with the BIO, ensure the security and integrity of this information with a primary focus on Advancement (fundraising) opportunities.

The Analyst must continually expand their knowledge of business applications as technology changes. This position will be responsible for developing complex queries, exports, imports, and assistance in custom reporting. The Analyst will provide expertise and training to allow the South Carolina Aquarium's business applications to be fully utilized by staff and assist management in assessing and analyzing data.

The individual in this role must fully understand the technology and information needs of the business to ensure efficient performance and the quality of the data in the system. In addition, the ideal candidate will show passion for implementing and maintaining new functionality, continually drive process improvement, exhibit project management prowess and exemplify strong customer service skills towards internal and external teams.

Essential Functions

  • Adhere to the South Carolina Aquarium Policies & Procedures.
  • Responsible for data integrity. Manage constituent data throughout the data lifecycle, including the movement of data within and between multiple systems.
  • Work with the BIO to implement best practices and other measures to secure data applications.
  • Serve as primary contact for Altru (CRM of record) configuration, integration and ad-hoc service requests from the Advancement team.
  • Triage support issues to determine the correct actions for resolution or escalation and transition the knowledge to the appropriate business area(s) for future issue resolution.
  • Routinely review data in applicable systems and address data quality issues as necessary.
  • Develops queries to export data properly. Input and export data from the system.
  • Advocate internally for Altru by recommending use of standard functionality and configuration settings to improve operational efficiency across departments.
  • Develop and implement training plans, key materials, and a communication plan regarding Altru's (or other CRM) daily use and reporting as necessary to support the Advancement team.
  • With guidance from the BIO, develop and maintain documentation, visuals, and reporting in support of the Advancement Department efforts.

Other Duties And Responsibilities

  • Supports the mission of the Aquarium by participating in sponsored programs and events.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills And Abilities

  • Ability to quickly learn new systems and technologies with minimal guidance.
  • Understanding of database design, query and modeling concepts to support data analytics.
  • Ability to convey technical concepts and solutions to both technical and non-technical staff.
  • Ability to comprehend complex requirements and clarify ambiguous information.
  • Ability to assist cross-functional teams in issue resolution and process planning.
  • Ability to perform multiple, highly complex, technical tasks with a need to occasionally upgrade skills in order to meet evolving job responsibilities.
  • Ability to function independently while maintaining clear communication with BIO and individuals in other departments, as appropriate.
  • Goal-oriented with proven ability to establish priorities and meet deadlines.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong organizational skills and an attentiveness to detail.

Education And Experience Required

  • Bachelor's Degree in appropriate field of study or equivalent work experience.
  • Experience in a non-profit and/or guest services environment preferred.
  • Experience with donor management and fundraising preferred.
  • Experience in managing/supporting business applications (ticketing, CRM, donor relations, finance systems, etc.) preferred; Altru experience desirable.

Licenses And Certifications Required

  • Valid Driver's License

  • Average walking, standing, bending, stooping, crouching, sitting and performing computer and phone tasks
  • Normal office environment
  • Contact with customers, outside vendors and the public
  • Occasional travel and nights
