Job Summary: Shan Potts Law Offices is seeking a dedicated and highly organized Legal Assistant to join our immigration law team. This position can be performed remotely, in-office, or in a hybrid model. We welcome applicants from Mexico, Argentina, Latin America, Spain, or any other location as long as they can maintain daily workflows and meet case deadlines.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in immigration law case management, be detail-oriented, and thrive in a fast-paced environment. The Legal Assistant plays a pivotal role in managing immigration cases, ensuring that filings are completed on time, and providing real-time updates to attorneys and clients. Key Responsibilities:

Case Management:

  • Oversee immigration cases from start to resolution, ensuring deadlines are met and workflows are followed.
  • Maintain case calendars, tracking deadlines, and ensuring timely submissions of legal filings.
  • Organize and manage case files, ensuring easy access for attorneys and team members.

Client Communication:

  • Provide timely and regular updates to clients on case progress.
  • Respond to client inquiries promptly and ensure high levels of client satisfaction.
  • Assist with gathering and preparing client documents, ensuring accuracy and timely submission.

Attorney Support:

  • Assist attorneys with legal case preparation, including drafting and organizing documents.
  • Ensure all required evidence and documentation are prepared for hearings and meetings.
  • Coordinate with attorneys to implement case strategies and track progress.

Filing and Documentation:

  • File legal documents accurately with courts, opposing counsel, and other relevant parties.
  • Track case milestones and provide real-time updates to the legal team.
  • Ensure 100% accuracy in document preparation and filing.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree or relevant experience in legal case management.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience as a legal assistant, paralegal, or case manager.
  • Strong organizational skills and a proven ability to meet deadlines.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficiency with legal case management software and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Bilingual: English and Spanish (required).

Preferred Experience:

  • Prior experience in U.S. immigration law or a related field.
  • Familiarity with U.S. legal processes and court systems.
  • Experience working with clients from Latin America or other international backgrounds.

Work Environment:

  • This position can be performed remotely, in-office (Los Angeles), or in a hybrid model, depending on the candidate's preference.
  • Flexible work hours may be required to meet court or filing deadlines.

Reporting Structure:

  • Reports to the Attorney, Law Office Manager, and CEO.

Expected Outcomes:

  • Ensure 100% of immigration case deadlines are met.
  • Maintain a high level of client satisfaction by providing timely communication and updates.
  • Achieve 100% accuracy in document preparation and legal filings.
