We are Hydro, Inc., a global industrial pump reengineering company located in in Chicago. We have a career opportunity for a qualified Welder to work in a controlled work environment. You will be part of an industry-leading team known for delivering high quality work to our customers. You will be responsible for setting up and operating a variety of welding equipment, including an electric-welding apparatus to perform complex welding of all types of parts, assemblies or other items and working to exacting tolerances.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Operates electric-welding apparatus to perform complex welding on designated parts, completed assemblies and large, custom pump parts that may be subject to third party testing.
  • Monitors quality of work throughout all stages of welding, making dimensional and visual checks. Takes action to correct faults in work.
  • Performs simple layouts on parts and assemblies, occasionally.
  • Makes simple set-ups of assigned welding equipment for designated work, following detailed drawings and sketches, welding practices and procedures.
  • Performs required burning, soft soldering, and brazing, as required.
  • Sets up welding equipment for a variety of complicated work, making adjustments to related positioners and fixtures as required to work materials.
  • Follows complicated blueprints to order specifications.
  • Takes initiative to plan standard work sequences and lays out work on parts and assemblies.
  • MIG and TIG welding experience (5+ years).
  • Weld proficiently with high pressure vessels.
  • Ability to weld carbon to carbon, stainless to stainless, stainless to carbon and 410 series to 410 SS.
  • Must be able to work with a broad range of corrosive resistant materials.
  • Ability to understand specific weld specifications and procedures that establish welding requirements.
  • Welding certification in 6g, a plus.
  • A background consisting of metal shop experience.
  • Restoration welding experience.
  • Provides assistance to other welders as needed.
  • Maintains assigned equipment and work area in a clean and orderly condition. Requests necessary maintenance to equipment as needed
