The Communications/AV/Sound Technician Role

Reporting to the Communications/Security Supervisor and Operations Manager, and collaborating closely with project managers, the Communications/AV/Sound Technician plays a pivotal role in installing, servicing, and supporting Audio Visual, Video, A/V Control, and other Communications Systems. Our diverse clientele includes K-12 public school districts, colleges, universities, government entities, and small to enterprise-level businesses across Pennsylvania. This position requires meticulous documentation and may involve travel to our York and State College offices, with occasional overnight stays. To support the Communications/AV/Sound Technician, Berkshire Systems Group, Inc. provides a comprehensive package including a company vehicle with AAA membership and fuel card, a company-issued laptop, tablet, cell phone, and all necessary tools and training.

Who You Are

You are a highly motivated team member passionate about Audio Visual, Video, A/V Control, and other Communications Systems, dedicated to enhancing our Communications departments at BSGI. You strive to deliver world-class service through continuous education and growth in the Communications industries.Responsibilities include:

  • Installing, networking, programming, and maintaining Audio Visual, Video, A/V Control, and other communications systems
  • Familiarizing with Crestron, AV Control Systems, Infocomm, Biamp, QSC, Telecommunications, Wireless, IP, and Networking standards
  • Reading, interpreting, and updating construction and A/V drawings
  • Regular communication of daily progress to Project Managers or Service Supervisors
  • Providing customer technical support and training as required
  • Timely completion of service acknowledgements for all calls or projects

Where You'll Be Located

You will be based at our corporate office in Reading, PA. Travel to our York and State College offices, as well as customer sites across Pennsylvania, including occasional overnight stays, may be necessary. Applicants must be at least 18 years old with a valid driver's license and a good driving record to operate a company vehicle.

Requirements

What You Bring:

  • Strong technical knowledge with an electronics background, including a robust skillset in Communications Systems, Pro-AV, or Information Technology (IT) is advantageous.
  • 2-5 years' experience with installations of Communications Systems is preferred.
  • Industry certifications such as CTS or CTS-I and formal manufacturer training are beneficial.
  • Ability to work comfortably at heights using lifts and ladders is preferred.
  • Proficiency in soldering and crimping connectors (XLR, RJ45, TRS, BNC, and F-CONN) is a plus.
  • Strong customer service and communication skills are essential.
  • Impeccable organizational and multitasking abilities in a professional setting are required.
