Job Summary

To lead the manufacturing team through effective management of direct reports, managers, and external key stakeholders.

Responsible for implementing strategies, managing resources, and leading a team to achieve operational excellence with delegated responsibilities of facilities, repair, and production. Assist as required to support Safeguard Medical operations to ensure goals are met. Job holder to promote and adhere to the company quality standards and compliance with current legislation.

Essential Job Functions

  • Lead and motivate all team members to meet production schedules, improve cost controls, and ensure the quality of high-end products under pressure.
  • Identify and implement improvements related to quality, cost, delivery, and safety.
  • Establish and maintain key metrics for planning, productivity, cost, and delivery performance.
  • Develop team to manage metrics day to day and assist their efforts to problem solve issues.
  • Assist in designing and organizing production areas to enhance efficiency, optimize space, and minimize manufacturing waste using lean and continuous improvement principles.
  • Motivate team members to consistently improve processes.
  • Communicate clearly and effectively with others in the value stream to ensure all agreed production and quality targets are achieved.
  • Train, coach and supervise employees to attain optimum performance considering every employee and promoting a positive atmosphere allowing them to use the best of their skills.
  • Design, prepare and record manufacturing methods to ensure high quality and efficiency
  • Work with group supply chain management, customer service and quality to ensure stable stream of inventory. Implement improvements to ensure value stream alignment with suppliers and customers
  • Ensure adherence and alignment to the QMS with specific, attention to detail to ensure high levels of quality and consistency are maintained in the daily operations execution.
  • Ensure that processes and procedures are aligned with the financial system to allow for good financial reporting – standard costs, variances, inventory, etc.
  • Support Research & Development department with administration and reporting as required.
  • Support team member development by facilitating an environment of excellence through goalsetting and achievement.
  • Provide consultation to leaders to enable business success through performance excellence that leads to continuous improvement.
  • Partner with HR to recruit top talent, manage performance, and retain high-performing team members. Facilitate an environment of excellence through goal setting and talent development.
  • Ensure complaints are addressed promptly, with timely feedback provided to the relevant department as necessary.
  • Ensure any issues from quality checks are promptly addressed and resolved to maintain high standards.
  • Maintain responsibility for the department budget, optimizing resource allocation and controlling operational costs.
  • To empower and lead the team through strong clear and open collaboration, being focused and committed, learning together and teamwork.
  • Thrives in a transformational environment, emerging business, building best-in-class processes (rather than a caretaker for mature, fully developed systems).

Qualifications & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in operations management, industrial engineering, business administration, or a related field.
  • 5+ years experience in managing production/manufacturing operations.
  • Knowledge of manufacturing processes, systems, and best practices.
  • Strong knowledge and application of lean/continuous improvement methods.
  • Knowledge of ERP systems (D365 preferred) and reporting tools such as PowerBI.
  • Computer literate and experienced in Microsoft Office applications.
  • Technical knowledge and understanding of the medical device industry preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently or collaboratively in a team environment with strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong knowledge of functional department related principles, practices, and procedures.
  • Self-motivated and self-directed.
  • Ability to work closely with a management team.

Physical Requirements

Performing the duties of this job regularly involves sitting, hearing/listening, repetitive hand movement, vision requirements - close vision, adjust focus, color code. Occasionally lifting of up to 25 pounds may be required.

Other Requirements

  • Based in Huntersville, NC with occasional travel to other locations to support business needs.
  • Positive support and acknowledgment of business messages, and statements in relation to the Company or any individual.
  • Be a responsible manager of company resources with regard to travel decisions and expenses.

Work Environment

The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to loud, consistent with a manufacturing setting.
