The Position

Responsible for providing scientific and technical support to Manufacturing Operations to improve efficiency of operations. Support is accomplished through direct "on-the-floor" support; design, execution, and interpretation of troubleshooting activities and small-scale laboratory experiments to develop supportive data; process and operations monitoring; operate and set-up mechanical training; and participation in planning for campaigns and new product introductions. May troubleshoot equipment and systems; develop new equipment requirements and operating parameters, providing factory acceptance testing and validation support. May also investigate operational and process discrepancies, suggest and implement corrective action, and contribute to the development and validation of manufacturing improvements.

The Opportunity
  • Responsible for the daily operations in the cell culture, purification, or analytical operations laboratories.
  • Monitor small scale and large scale cell culture or purification processes.
  • Responsible for technical assessments, and drafts investigation, development, and validation reports.
  • Create and review manufacturing documents.
  • Operate computers for process control and data entry.
  • Work closely with other shift personnel and Manufacturing Sciences staff to meet department and company goals.
  • All employees with jobs that require access to the Warehouse must be able to pass the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) Security Threat Assessment (STA).
  • Ensures the integration of environmental health, safety, and security into the business processes, systems, and programs while reporting safety and environmental incidents including injuries, illnesses, and safety suggestions within one's functional area. Fosters a positive safety culture in which no one gets hurt.


Who you are

Education and Experience
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Bio/Chemical Engineering.
  • 4-6 years experience.


Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
  • Ability to organize and problem solve.
  • Demonstrate proficiency in the application of basic manufacturing, engineering, and/or scientific theories, principles, and techniques used in biopharmaceutical manufacturing processes.
  • Ability to interact productively within and across work groups and with outside collaborators and vendors on technical matters associated with specific projects.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Familiarity with computer-based systems.


Work Environment/Physical Demands/Safety Considerations
  • Work in office and laboratory environment.
  • May be on feet for 8 to 10 hours a day.
  • Lifting up to 25lbs may be required.
  • May work in the clean room environment that requires gowning in the form of hospital scrubs, bunny suits, gloves and steel toe boots be worn. Also, no make up or jewelry can be worn when working in the clean room environment.
  • May work with hazardous materials and chemicals.
  • Ability to sit, stand and move within work space for extended periods.

The expected salary range for this position based on the primary location of California is $69,300-$128,700. Actual pay will be determined based on experience, qualifications, geographic location, and other job-related factors permitted by law. A discretionary annual bonus may be available based on individual and Company performance. This position also qualifies for the benefits detailed at the link provided below.
