This position is expected to start around January 2025 and continue through the entire Winter term (i.e. through May 2025) or into Summer 2025 if available. We ask for a minimum of 12 weeks, full-time and on-site, for most internships.
International Students: If your work authorization is through CPT, please consult your school on your ability to work 40 hours per week before applying. You must be able to work 40 hours per week on-site. Many students will be limited to part-time during the academic year.

About the Team
As a member of the Foundation Inference Infrastructure team, you will design and implement a diverse set of backend services and tools that power Tesla Bot and Full Self-Driving software and processes. The systems you build will have a large impact on Tesla Bot and Autopilot, from fleet data collection & processing of Machine Learning workflows to evaluation and validation of the software stack.
As an engineer on the Foundations Inference Infrastructure team, you will bring top-notch software engineering skills and can contribute to our systems immediately. A strong candidate will either be an excellent software generalist, or someone who has an exceptionally strong backend and infrastructure background.

Responsibilities
  • Design and implement backend services and tools that handle fleet data collection, batch processing, inference, simulation, and evaluation based on real-world sensor data
  • Influence architectural decisions with focus on security, scalability, reliability and high performance
  • Setup and maintain monitoring, metrics & reporting systems for fine-grained observability and actionable alerting
  • Work closely with the other Autopilot and Tesla Bot teams to design and implement backend components required for future features and processes

Requirements
  • Pursuing a degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or relevant field of study with a graduation date between 2025 -2026
  • Must be able to relocate and work on site in Palo Alto, CA
  • Proficiency with Python
  • Proficiency with Operating Systems concepts such as networking, processes and file systems
  • Proficiency with concurrency programming and resource management concepts in Linux
  • Experience with Linux, container orchestrator like Kubernetes or similar and bare metal setup tools like Ansible or similar
  • Experience with data stores like PostgreSQL and Redis
  • Nice to have: Golang

      $100000.00 - $150000.00 + benefits
