Job Description: Generative AI Project Manager
Our client is seeking an experienced Project Manager to lead their Generative AI Center of Excellence (COE) projects. This role involves overseeing the intake and delivery of AI solutions, managing complex data, and aligning engineering efforts with business outcomes. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in Agile project management, experience with AI/ML technologies, and the ability to work collaboratively with technical and business teams.
This is a remote position, with a preference for candidates in Central or Eastern time zones.
Responsibilities:
- Generative AI Use Case Intake and Solution Delivery:
- Manage the end-to-end intake and assessment of Generative AI use cases using standardized templates and frameworks.
- Oversee project timelines, budget, and risk management strategies to ensure on-time, high-quality delivery.
- Lead RAG and Model Fine-Tuning Projects:
- Manage the implementation of Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) solutions and the fine-tuning of pre-trained models (e.g., GPT, BERT).
- Collaborate with data scientists and engineers to build, test, and deploy solutions using NLP, large language models (LLMs), and APIs.
- Performance Monitoring and Optimization:
- Define and track project KPIs (e.g., precision, recall, latency) and business metrics (e.g., ROI, customer satisfaction).
- Develop continuous feedback loops to monitor AI model drift, bias, and performance, retraining models as needed.
- Stakeholder Management and Communication:
- Bridge communication between business stakeholders and technical teams to align AI project goals with business priorities.
- Provide consultative guidance on data architecture, AI models, and application development in collaboration with engineering teams.
- Risk Mitigation:
- Identify common AI project risks (e.g., data quality, model bias) and implement mitigation strategies using Agile practices.
- Maintain transparency with stakeholders through effective reporting, dashboards, and communication.
Required Skills and Experience:
- 5+ years of experience managing engineering or software development projects, preferably in Agile environments.
- Hands-on experience with Generative AI technologies, including NLP, LLMs, and machine learning models.
- Conceptual understanding of RAG architecture, API development, and experience with tools like LangChain, Hugging Face, or vector databases.
- Experience managing AI solutions within a business context, including the ability to assess ROI/NPV and align with business KPIs.
- Strong understanding of risk management in AI projects, including model drift, bias mitigation, and performance monitoring.
- Technical acumen with the ability to engage in discussions about data pipelines, cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, Google Cloud Platform), and software development workflows.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to present complex topics to non-technical stakeholders.
- Strong leadership skills, with experience managing cross-functional teams including business analysts, data scientists, software engineers, and consultants.
Preferred Skills:
- Experience working with RAG solutions, fine-tuning models, and data integration tools.
- Familiarity with APIs, conversational AI platforms, and vector databases.
- Hands-on experience with monitoring and optimizing AI solutions using KPIs like latency, precision, and recall.
- Certifications in Agile, Scrum, or AI-related fields are a plus.
