Location: Hybrid - Amherst, VA

Duration:Long Term Contract

Job Description:

Seeking an experienced IT Infrastructure Analyst to join our team in a hybrid role. The ideal candidate will be hands-on, proactive, and capable of working both independently and collaboratively. This position requires the ability to physically inspect and troubleshoot devices, computers, servers, and network infrastructure at multiple county sites. The IT Infrastructure Analyst will work closely with the existing IT team and system administrators to support various county departments and ensure the efficient operation of technology systems.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Inspect and analyze computers, servers, printers, routers, and other hardware components.
  • Evaluate device patch levels and software versions to ensure compliance and security.
  • Inspect and analyze the county's network infrastructure, including servers, switches, and routers.
  • Provide recommendations for network upgrades and ideal state configuration and advise on what network security through the use of mail filters, anti-virus software, web filters, and other security tools should ideally look like.
  • Work alongside system administrators to review server logs, check software versions, and verify hardware performance.
  • Recommend future posture of workstations, laptops, printers, and other peripherals for county offices.
  • Visit various county sites to provide in-person analysis and collaborate with other IT team members to recommend ideal state infrastructure and security posture.
  • Review countywide technology projects, including cloud migrations, network upgrades, and system implementations.
  • Review the implementation of a new cloud-based software projects
  • Review ongoing cloud migration efforts for applications, email systems, and other countywide services.
  • Review the county's audio, video, and security camera systems.
  • Review issues related to the county's phone system, including those for the Department of Social Services, the school administration, and the courts.
  • Review the county's help desk ticketing system to analyze technical support requests.
  • Assess end-user support and training.

Requirements:

Experience:
  • Minimum of 8 years of experience in IT infrastructure support, network administration, or a related field.
  • Strong understanding of network infrastructure, including servers, switches, routers, and security systems.
  • Experience with troubleshooting and configuring hardware, software, and network devices.
  • Proficiency with cloud-based technologies and supporting cloud migrations.
  • Experience in IT infrastructure assessments
  • Knowledge of server and network maintenance, including reviewing server logs and ensuring patch compliance.
  • Familiarity with help desk ticketing systems, email systems, and network security tools.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills to interact effectively with colleagues, department heads, and other county personnel.
  • Ability to travel to various county sites for in-person support as needed.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and a proactive approach to IT infrastructure management.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience working in a county or government setting.
  • Certifications such as CompTIA Network+, CompTIA Security+, or similar.
  • Knowledge of cloud-based solutions and experience in large-scale IT project implementation.
