Data Engineer/Architect

This is a W-2 position only (no staffing agencies or contractors). Candidates must currently reside in the U.S.

Core Hours: 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM CST
Location: Nashville, TN (Onsite)

Responsibilities:

• Provide expert content and professional leadership on complex engineering assignments and projects.
• Design and develop a consolidated, conformed enterprise data warehouse and data lake, storing critical data across customer, provider, claims, client, and benefits domains.
• Design, develop, and implement methods, processes, tools, and analyses to sift through large datasets stored in a data warehouse or data mart to uncover relationships and patterns.
• Participate in delivering a definitive enterprise information environment that enables strategic decision-making capabilities through analytics and reporting.
• Exercise considerable creativity, foresight, and judgment in conceiving, planning, and delivering initiatives.
• Use deep professional knowledge and acumen to advise functional leaders.
• Provide thought leadership within Information Management, while contributing to broader projects that require an understanding of wider business implications.
• Recognized internally as a subject matter expert.

Skills:

• Design, develop, and maintain ETL platforms for various business use cases that are fault-tolerant, highly distributed, and robust.
• Analyze large sets of structured and semi-structured data for business analytics and ETL design.
• Translate business needs and vision into roadmaps, project deliverables, and organizational strategies.
• Design and implement ETL solutions leveraging cloud-native platforms.
• Collaborate with analytics and business teams to design data models that feed business intelligence tools, increasing data accessibility and encouraging data-driven solutions.
• Experience with data modeling techniques for cloud data stores and on-prem databases such as Teradata and Teradata Vantage (TDV).
• Preferred experience in ETL development within Teradata Vantage and data migration from on-prem to Teradata Vantage.
• Proficiency in SQL, relational and non-relational databases, query optimization, and data modeling.
• Experience with source code control systems like GitLab.
• Experience with large-scale distributed relational and NoSQL database systems.
• Strong experience designing and developing data pipelines for data ingestion and transformation using Spark.
• Distributed computing experience using Python and PySpark.
• Good understanding of the Spark framework and architecture.
• Experience working in cloud-based big data infrastructure.
• Expertise in troubleshooting performance and data skew issues.
• Strong understanding of Spark runtime metrics and the ability to tune applications based on those metrics.
• Deep knowledge of partitioning and bucketing concepts for data ingestion.
• Solid understanding of AWS services such as Glue, Athena, S3, Lambda, and CloudFormation.
• Preferred working knowledge in implementing data lake ETL using AWS Glue, Databricks, etc.

Technologies:
PySpark, Python, AWS services, Teradata Vantage, CI/CD technologies, Terraform, SQL.

Education:

Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Artificial Intelligence, or a related field

Cloud certifications such as AWS Certified Solutions Architect, Google Cloud Professional Cloud Architect are preferred. Strong knowledge of cloud computing concepts
