Job Description:

Key Responsibilities
  • Purchase Order Management: Issue, update, and monitor purchase orders to ensure accuracy and timely reporting.
  • Vendor Communication: Proactively engage with vendors via phone and email to confirm delivery dates and secure competitive pricing.
  • Problem Solving: Address and resolve supply chain issues with urgency to keep projects on schedule.
  • Cross-functional Collaboration: Work with various departments (Receiving, Engineering, Production, etc.) to complete tasks and projects efficiently.
  • Data Management: Monitor the Purchasing group mailbox and transfer relevant data to ERP systems.
  • Bid Management: Send out RFQ packages to suppliers, manage incoming quotes, and organize bid information.
  • Documentation: Regularly update work processes and procedures for transparency and efficiency.
What You Need to Succeed (Minimum Requirements)
  • 3+ years of experience in purchasing/procurement, with exposure to lead time constraints in a technical operations environment.
  • 3+ years of RFQ process experience, including competitive bidding and vendor management.
  • Experience with ERP systems such as JDE or SAP for material management or production planning.
  • Proficiency in MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
  • Strong communication skills, with an assertive approach to engaging suppliers and resolving issues.
  • Ability to multitask and work independently with attention to detail and problem-solving.
  • Technical Aptitude: Ability to read and interpret mechanical technical drawings and familiarity with fabrication processes (e.g., milling, lathe, laser sheet metal fabrication).
Preferred Qualifications
  • Advanced Excel skills, including VLOOKUP and pivot table analysis.
  • 5+ years of purchasing experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Experience in strategic vendor management.
  • Higher education or coursework in procurement, supply chain, or a related field.
  • Demand forecasting experience is a plus.
  • Influential communication skills to effectively manage vendor relationships.
