Job Description: System Administrator
The System Administrator will be responsible for maintaining and administering computing, storage, and virtualization systems for various federal and commercial IT projects. This full-time, onsite role is based in McLean, VA or Bethesda, MD and reports to the Senior Infrastructure Engineer. The candidate will work with technologies such as VMware, Cisco UCS, Hyperflex, Nutanix, Linux, and Windows and must effectively manage project tasks while collaborating with diverse client teams.
Responsibilities
Ensure reliable operation and configuration of computer systems and virtual environments.
Install software and hardware, perform upgrades, and manage virtual servers.
Troubleshoot software issues, perform system analysis, and document solutions.
Manage data protection, backup operations, and disaster recovery plans.
Lead desktop support efforts, ensuring prompt resolution of technical issues.
Maintain documentation for network components and manage capacity planning.
Communicate effectively with clients and internal teams to foster strong relationships and resolve issues.
Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field.
Over 7 years of experience in network or system administration.
Proven experience with Windows Admin
Strong in patching, deployment of software, and Windows Active Directory
Knowledge of various IT systems and technologies, with relevant certifications preferred.
Experience with Cisco and Linux
Flexibility to work non-business hours and travel for projects as needed a MUST.
