The Technology, Infrastructure, and Architecture team is looking for a Sr. Associate Systems Engineer responsible for managing, maintaining, prioritizing, and supporting the compute and technology used by R&D. You'll have an opportunity to continue to grow your skills as we are always adapting to the needs of our organization as technology changes. Our team is responsible for providing SAS R&D with the needed resources to produce the best software for customers!

The Technology, Infrastructure, and Architecture team is looking for a Sr. Associate Systems Engineer responsible for managing, maintaining, prioritizing, and supporting the compute and technology used by R&D. You'll have an opportunity to continue to grow your skills as we are always adapting to the needs of our organization as technology changes. Our team is responsible for providing SAS R&D with the needed resources to produce the best software for customers!
As a Systems Engineer (Emerging Career)- you will:
- Support various aspects of R&D infrastructure operations, including standardizing technology approaches, implementing patch management solutions, normalizing logging and authentication, and implementing operating system upgrades and version management methodologies
- Drive down technical debt by migrating applications to new systems
- Enforce technical standards to ensure technical solutions are executed according to a prescribed design and architecture.
- Work on a team of high-performing experts to provide the R&D population with needed resources to provide our SAS customer base with the best software in the industry!
- Plan for and remediate any security findings related to R&D networks and computing resources following industry best practices.
- Actively collaborate with other technical R&D and CIS teams to ensure that all production-level R&D solutions remain highly performant and redundant to meet availability requirements for end users and service consumers.
- Ensure all applicable security policies and processes are followed to support the organization's secure software development goals.

- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to articulate technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.

Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, or related quantitative field.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience with Linux systems administration
- Equivalent combination of related education, training and experience may be considered in place of the above qualifications.
- Understanding of infrastructure and cloud concepts
- Willingness to learn new technologies
- Experience with scripting languages (Bash, Python, Ansible, etc)
- Ability to troubleshoot technical issues and determine root cause

Preferred qualifications
- Familiarity with IAC, CI/CD concepts
- Experience automating tasks
- Experience using source control solutions like GitHub or GitLab.
- Ability to triage requests with multiple admin resource groups
