Solutions Engineer Packaging Equipment

Our client is a privately owned, industry leading distributor of packaging equipment and materials serving a growing number of clients across the Ontario region. Their strong track record of growth and healthy sales forecast has triggered the need to acquire an experienced Solutions Engineer to enhance the value delivered to their packaging equipment customers. The Solutions Engineer role involves aiding the sales team in crafting intricate packaging equipment solutions, based on known customer needs and business objectives. This position supports the Sales Team by preparing equipment and automation solutions, cost estimates, and technical proposals for customers, while also fostering and maintaining long-term customer relationships. A passion for technology and a curious mindset for continuously expanding your technical knowledge are essential for success in this role.
Responsibilities:
- Participate in sales calls as a technical specialist to gather necessary information for identifying customer pain points or opportunities.
- Support the Sales Team by addressing technical questions and delivering technical presentations via phone, email, and on-site visits.
- Create technical scopes of work, detailed drawings for technical solutions, and associated cost estimates.
- Effectively manage assigned accounts acting as the primary point of contact for pre and post sales related enquiries.
- Provide initial pre-sales and post-sales support to ensure internal and external alignment with the detailed scope of work.
- Develop equipment and automation solutions.
- Adhere to the Occupational Health and Safety Act and Regulations, as well as internal Solutions Policies and Procedures.
- Contribute to generating new business and ensure the growth of existing and potential accounts by applying technical expertise in end-of-line packaging equipment, automation solutions, and their integration.
- Promote and ensure positive relationships with all customers through regular communication of product related information.
- Develop sales and application tools/materials which will assist the efficient specification of our client needs.
Requirements:
- Post-secondary education completed, preferably a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering.
- 5+ years of experience with a proven track record in sales or application engineering with a technical emphasis.
- Practical experience with AutoCAD, Visual Basic, and SolidWorks.
- Excellent verbal and written communication abilities
- Expertise in building and maintaining strong relationships with customers and key stakeholders, acting as a customer-facing subject matter expert.
- Demonstrated experience in coordinating technical projects is crucial.
- Strong skills in organization, prioritization, and time management.
