Department Overview
The Critical Communications Devices team specializes in the development of world-class digital two-way communications devices for the mission critical market. Our APX family of devices are a lifeline to our public safety customers - firefighters, police officers, and other first responders. By leveraging state of the art technologies, we are changing the way public safety uses our devices and making them more safe and better equipped to handle nearly every situation.
Job Description
As an Embedded AI Architect, you will focus on working with technical partners from numerous organizations and Product Managers to identify the best possible customer experiences and bring them to life by leveraging our various businesses and the latest, cutting edge technologies. As part of your role, you will also be responsible for conducting proof of concept activities and technical evaluations to ensure that the solution is well understood and feasible. Once understood, you will work with the various stakeholders to gain alignment on and acceptance of the solution and support the development teams as the solution is implemented.

Job Responsibilities
- Collaborate with Product Managers and Designers to understand customer needs and associated business requirements.
- Research and recommend new technologies for possible inclusion in our solutions and/or business.
- Collaborate with technical staff in numerous internal and/or external organizations to develop the appropriate solution to meet business and project needs (presenting appropriate tradeoffs as required) .
- Conduct appropriate proof of concept and evaluation activities in order to ensure the proposed solution is well understood and feasible.
- Document the resulting technical requirements/solution and work with various stakeholders to gain alignment and support for the solution.
- Support the development team as they implement the overall solution including focused development activities as required.
Qualifications:
- Must have a Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or related field. (Master's with a focus on AI/ML preferred)
- Must be fluent in one or more high level object oriented programming languages such as C++, C#, Java, Python, etc. (Python preferred)
- 4+ years experience with embedded software design and development. (IoT focus preferred)
- 2+ years experience with AI/ML design and development at scale. (TinyML preferred)
- Must have a solid understanding of software development processes and practices.
- Must be capable of working effectively within a cross functional team and in distributed team environments.
- Must exhibit excellent verbal and written communication skills and the ability to articulate technical concepts (especially AI/ML concepts & tradeoffs) to technical and non-technical audiences.
- Must have a positive attitude and exhibit superior collaboration skills.
- Must have a strong desire to understand how things work and continually learn new domains/technologies.
- Some US and Global travel may be required.
Desired Requirements/Skills
- Basic knowledge of Android based software design and development.
- Basic knowledge of cloud based architecture, development, and DevOps.
