Job Description
EDUCATION:
Currently enrolled in an accredited university; majoring in Mechanical Engineering or Material Science or other related Engineering field
Experience/Proficiency:
None
Hours:
7 AM TO 4 PM, M - F (flexible)
DESCRIPTION:
Under the direction of the Engineering Manager, this individual will be working on multiple projects to increase the overall effectiveness of the company and its operations. This position will require a high level of initiative, analytical capability, and confidence.
SKILL REQUIREMENTS
- Strategy formulation and implementation
- Project Management
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, ProE Die Design, Six Sigma
- Knowledge of the basics of Heat Treating and Mechanical Testing
- Analytical capability
EFFORT REQUIREMENTS
Leadership ability, customer centered, initiative, risk taker, confidence, gets along well with others.
RESPONSIBILITY (may include all or parts of the following)
- Reduction of steel usage, stock size, lead time and scrap
- Manufacturing technological improvements
- Strategy formulation and implementations of Robotics
- Plant velocity improvements
- Reduction of paper usage [digitization]
- Estimating time improvements
- Process elimination/improvements
- Research and Development of materials and processes
- Research and recommendations of industry best practices
- Product development
- Reduction of energy consumption
- Strategy formulation and implementation for plant expansion projects
WORKING CONDITIONS
- Clean, bright office environment with occasional plant floor visits
- Occasional exposure to noise adjacent to and working in a manufacturing environment.
