The Office of the Inspector General (OIG) is seeking to fill 2 Data Analyst positions. Both positions will be similar, one with main responsibilities supporting the Pharmacy team and the other supporting the Rehab and Restore team and leading efforts to ensure data analysis is appropriately validated and documented.
The OIG reports directly to the DHS Secretary and is charged with protecting the taxpayers of Wisconsin by preventing and detecting fraud, abuse, and waste of public assistance programs such as Medicaid, FoodShare, Women, Infants, and Children (WIC), IRIS, and FamilyCare.

Position Summary
As a Data Analyst, you will be responsible for the following duties:
The starting pay is between $38.00 and $41.25 per hour (approximately between $79,000 and $85,800 per year), depending on qualifications, plus excellent benefits. A 12-month probationary period is required.
Pay for current or former state employees will be set based on the rules that apply to compensation for the applicable transaction. The positions are classified as Research Analyst – Advanced and are in pay schedule and range 08/03.

Employees must have access to both a private workspace and secure high-speed internet for remote work option. Mileage reimbursement to the employee’s headquarter location is not provided. Remote work flexibility will be discussed in more detail during the interview process.
DHS does not sponsor work visas for this position, thus, in compliance with federal law, selected candidates will be required to verify eligibility to work in the United States by completing the required I-9 form upon hire.

Position Summary
As a Data Analyst, you will be responsible for the following duties:
- Performing advanced data and program analysis work to support the development of complex analysis across a large breadth of data including claims, encounters, and other sources to produce decision making for the OIG.
- Serving as the lead analyst for the Pharmacy or Rehab team conducting analysis and providing data and visualizations to assist in the assessment of effectiveness of previous work and assess data and make recommendations on policy enforcement actions.
- Producing various visualizations, identifying gaps in data, and identifying additional information that is needed to make appropriate decisions for programs.
- Communicating analytical findings to management.
- Summarizing critical issues for program staff.

Qualifications

- Experience performing data analysis (e.g. writing queries, creating dashboards, analyzing large data sets for patterns, reviewing claims data for fraud, waste, or abuse, etc.).
- Experience or training in the writing and maintenance of data queries.
- Experience using common data query coding languages (e.g. SQL, SAS, Python, etc.).
- Experience creating data visualizations using programs such as Tableau or Power BI.
- Experience with healthcare claims data.
- Experience with pharmacy related healthcare data.
- Experience working with Medicaid or other government programs.
