Position Overview:

weavix is seeking a hands-on Director of Quality Assurance (QA) to lead and transform our quality efforts, transitioning our predominantly manual QA processes into a fully automated, world-class operation. This critical role ensures the highest reliability standards for our mission-critical products, spanning battery-powered mobile devices, mobile apps, web applications, and cloud-based services.

As the Director of QA, you will spearhead the development of an automation strategy, leveraging state-of-the-art tools and AI advancements, while inspiring and managing a geographically distributed team. This role requires a leader who can attract top QA talent, foster a collaborative and innovative environment, and directly contribute to our QA processes within our flat organizational structure.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the transformation from manual QA processes to fully automated systems, covering all weavix products, including mobile devices, apps, web applications, and cloud infrastructure.
  • Take a hands-on approach to leadership, actively participating in testing and troubleshooting within a flat organizational structure.
  • Attract, mentor, and inspire a distributed QA team, equipping them with the skills needed for advanced automated testing across hardware and software.
  • Implement automated testing frameworks to improve test coverage, efficiency, and repeatability of our products.
  • Oversee rigorous testing of battery-powered mobile devices, embedded software, and critical communication protocols.
  • Collaborate closely with engineering, product, and support teams to align QA efforts with product and customer needs.
  • Build and maintain a comprehensive suite of automated test cases for robust coverage of core product features.
  • Ensure weavix products meet the highest quality standards, focusing on 24/7 uptime and efficient issue resolution.
  • Drive continuous QA improvement, adopting new tools and methodologies to keep weavix at the forefront of QA practices.

Required Qualifications:

  • Education: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related technical field.
  • Experience:
  • 10+ years in Quality Assurance, with at least 5 years in a leadership role.
  • Proven track record in transforming manual QA processes into automated operations.
  • Experience building, leading, and managing geographically distributed QA teams.
  • Hands-on experience with battery-powered devices, embedded software, mobile (iOS/Android), web applications, and cloud infrastructure.
  • Expertise with mission-critical products requiring 24/7 reliability.

Technical Skills:

  • Automation Tools: Proficient in test automation frameworks like Selenium, Appium, JUnit, and Postman. Experience with Espresso (for Android) and XCTest (for iOS).
  • Mobile and Embedded Systems Testing: Skilled in testing battery-powered mobile devices and embedded systems using ADB, Appium, Espresso, and Robot Framework.
  • Cloud Infrastructure Testing: Knowledge of cloud tools such as GitHub, New Relic, Azure DevOps, and Azure Monitor.
  • CI/CD Pipelines: Proficiency in QA automation integration with CI/CD tools like Jenkins, GitLab CI, CircleCI, and Azure DevOps.
  • AI in QA: Experience with AI-driven platforms such as Testim, Applitools, and Functionize for predictive analytics and visual testing.
  • Version Control & Test Management: Proficiency with Git, JIRA, and Zephyr for comprehensive test management and reporting.
  • Manual & Automated Testing Balance: Skilled in both manual and automated functional, regression, performance, and load testing. Experience with Katalon Studio and TestComplete.
  • Programming Languages: Strong knowledge of Python, Java, and JavaScript. Familiarity with shell scripting for embedded systems.
  • Hardware & Software Integration Testing: Experience with tools like Power Profiler Kit for battery performance and Wireshark for network packet inspection.
