Sales Manager is responsible for the direct selling of hotel rooms and food and beverage facilities for the purpose of maximizing profits of the hotel property. Assist the Sales Director in the development and implementation of the hotel’s sales and marketing strategies. Job Requirements include a BA/BS degree in marketing or related field or equivalent experience. Minimum of three (3) years total experience in sales or marketing to include one (1) year in hospitality or hotel sales program. Strong oral and written communications skills. Supervisory experience preferred.

Job Duties Include

  • Establish client base of organizations, associations, travel agents and commercial business in defined geographic or market area for the purpose of securing business for the hotel property to ensure that pre-determined sales expectations are met or exceeded.
  • Ensure that all sales agreements entered into by the department with clients are communicated to other hotel departments in order to completely satisfy the requirements of the booking parties.
  • Assist the Sales Director in the preparation of the department budget and overall sales objectives and strategies of the hotel.
  • Ensure that current and prospective client databases are maintained and those files are kept current and accessible.
  • Ensure that overall system-wide policies/strategies and programs are followed.
  • Ensure the professional development of sales team supervised and provide direction to maximize the generation of hotel sales/revenue.
  • As required, review current sales practices of department and revise strategy to meet current and future sales conditions.
  • Contact area groups and businesses to notify and discuss sales efforts and promotions, special programs, etc., to generate business and maximize hotel profits.
  • Contact Travel Agencies to notify and discuss sales promotions, special programs, etc., and to coordinate joint efforts.
  • Contact Governmental Agencies to discuss marketing/sales plans to ensure conformance to regulatory requirements.
  • Duties include the exercise or discretion and independent judgment with respect to matters of significance, including negotiation of rates.
