Description Of Duties/Essential Functions
Houston Public Works Capital Projects is seeking a skilled individual to perform a range of professional functions for Contract Services. This role, as Project Technician, will oversee the coordination and administrative support for technical activities related to project development, preparation, and implementation. Responsibilities include managing administrative tasks and providing technical support.
Essential Functions Are But Not Limited To
The position occasionally requires stooping or bending. Occasional very light lifting, such as three or four reams of papers or books (up to 20 pounds or an equivalent weight) may be required. This position is Hybrid Tele-Work Eligible.
This is a Department of Houston Public Works position at the Tier III Level.
Minimum Requirements
EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS
Requires an Associate's degree in Engineering, Drafting, Designing or closely related field.
Experience Requirements
Four (4) years of related experience, such as surveying, engineering, drafting and/or designing, are required
Substitution: Directly related professional experience may be substituted for the education requirement on a year-for-year basis.
Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Drafting, Design or a closely related field may be substituted for the education and two years of the experience requirement.
License Requirements
None
PREFERENCES
Preference will be given to candidates with proficiency in Microsoft Suite Application.
This position requires proofreading skills, analytical judgment, and pays attention to details. Good organizational, verbal, and written communication skills, ability to multi-task, and work effectively with all levels of management.
SELECTION/SKILLS TESTS REQUIRED: None
However, the department may administer a skill assessment evaluation.
SAFETY IMPACT POSITION: No
If yes, this position is subject to random drug testing and if a promotional position, candidate must pass an assignment drug test.
SALARY INFORMATION
Factors used in determining the salary offered include the candidate's qualifications as well as the pay rates of other employees in this classification.

- Coordinate contracts documents with Contractors.
- Serves as liaison to departments and agencies.
- Liaison for Contract Services with all Service Lines, Project Managers, and Client Departments
- Prepare, maintain and track performance measurements in CIPMS.
- Perform other Project Technician duties as required.
- Strong written and verbal communication.
- Critical thinking
- Coordinates and monitors equipment and system repairs.
