- Ability to follow standard protocols or determine protocols to be used, based on the guidelines of the principal investigator
- Ability to maintain quality and safety control standards

- Plans schedule according to variety of methods to be used, and availability and quantity of resources.
- Conducts research, utilizing institution library, archives and collections, and other sources of information to collect, record, analyze and evaluate facts.
- Discusses findings with appropriate personnel to evaluate validity of findings.
- Prepares reports of completed projects.
- Operates laboratory equipment, contributes to laboratory maintenance.
- Performs a variety of assays, tests, and studies of a routine nature.
- Performs calculations to complete research test results; collates data; performs statistical analysis of lab results and maintains notes and log or computer database; performs basic procedures for computer assisted data analysis.

- Bachelor's degree in science field
