Senior Endur Technologist (Gas and Power Commodities Trading)

This is a long term opportunity with the possibility to be converted to a full time employee focused on Trading and Risk Management. We are looking for a Senior Endur Technologist with strong expertise in Gas and Power Commodities Trading and a passion for technology. The ideal candidate will have experience developing Java-based, enterprise-scale solutions and a deep understanding of the energy trading landscape.

In this role, you will partner with end-users to gather requirements, design solutions, and deliver impactful business value. You will work closely with both global technology teams and key business stakeholders to ensure seamless integration of solutions into the broader enterprise ecosystem. A focus on delivering high-quality solutions in an Agile environment and a drive to continuously improve and challenge the status quo is essential.

<>Key Responsibilities:</>

  • Hands-on Development & Technical Leadership: Take an active role in the development of solutions while also providing technical leadership to the team.

  • Collaborative Requirement Gathering: Work closely with business users to understand processes and capture functional requirements, driving the development of effective solutions.

  • Innovation & Continuous Improvement: Identify areas for process improvement and innovation, striving to enhance technology solutions to meet evolving business needs.

  • Business and System Knowledge: Develop a strong understanding of both business and system requirements to drive your individual growth and enhance team effectiveness.

  • Enhance Openlink Platform: Collaborate with the existing development team to enhance the current Openlink platform, integrating it with the global commodities application stack.

  • Goal-Oriented Delivery: Exhibit initiative and self-sufficiency in delivering solutions while maintaining a focus on high-priority tasks during periods of change and pressure.

  • Solution Design & Development: Design and develop new technology stacks, combining existing platforms with new strategic solutions to meet business needs.

  • Engage with Traders & Business Users: Collaborate with traders and business stakeholders to understand and define new requirements, with a particular focus on trade modeling and lifecycle management.

  • Optimize Build & Delivery Cycles: Enhance the productivity of technology teams and improve operational efficiency by designing systems that streamline business processes and workflows.

<>Required Skills & Experience:</>

  • 7-10 years of development experience in a hands-on, delivery-focused role.

  • Strong technical expertise in Java, including experience with JVS and Connex Frameworks (particularly OpenLink s Java Framework).

  • Proficiency in SQL, particularly with MS SQL Server.

  • 7+ years experience with ETRM systems, particularly Endur (OpenLink).

  • Familiarity with service-oriented technologies such as REST, JSON, Protobuf, and frameworks like Spring Boot and Dropwizard.

  • Experience with DevOps best practices and tools such as JIRA, JUnit, GitLab, Artifactory, Docker, Kibana, and Prometheus.

  • Exposure to cloud technologies (AWS or Azure) and an understanding of their use in hybrid environments.

  • Deep knowledge of the energy and commodities markets, including experience in Natural Gas, Power, and Emissions trading products.

  • Experience in both physical and financial trading environments is a plus, with particular emphasis on trade modeling and valuation.

  • Familiarity with US and Canadian natural gas, power, and emissions/renewables trading, with additional knowledge of European markets a bonus.

  • Knowledge of physical trade models, including storage and transport, as well as nonlinear financial trades and their valuation.

  • Understanding of curve modeling, including volatility setups.
