As Electronics Engineer, you will perform the following duties:

  • Providing technical engineering support for domestic and international policy development and long-range planning; Evaluating and analyzes detailed engineering analyses. Providing expert opinion and modifications to engineering analyses, both domestic and foreign to ensure sound technical principles are maintained and to develop federal positions.
  • Conducting in-depth technical/policy analyses of spectrum use, technical review of new Federal radiocommunication systems, assisting Federal agencies in resolving operational and regulatory problems; Providing technical policy analysis support for international radio treaty conferences; establishing and improving Federal standards to assure efficient use of spectrum.
  • Providing technical and policy support for bilateral and multilateral meetings on radio
    spectrum issues with foreign administrations. Providing technical and policy advice and recommendations to agency senior officials on spectrum issues on the agendas of the International Trade Union (ITU) Council and the Plenipotentiary Conference.
  • Crafting and reviewing policies, technical, and engineering outputs for compliance with agency policy and technical accuracy such as U.S. technical and regulatory contributions to international and regional radiocommunication meetings, U.S. proposals, views, and position papers for World Radiocommunication Conferences (WRCs), and filings with the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) on rulemaking proceedings.
  • Representing the agency on spectrum management matters with outside organizations, both foreign and domestic. Serving as a convener, vice convener, or as an agency representative to ad hoc or on-going inter-agency work groups; serving on or leading groups developing technical or operating standards; or serving on teams working with international groups on spectrum management issues.
