As a Lead Research Microbiologist you will:

  • Serve as a Team Leader.
  • Lead the team in: identifying, distributing and balancing workload and tasks among employees in accordance with established workflow, skill level and/or occupational specialization; making adjustments to accomplish the workload in accordance with established priorities to ensure timely accomplishment of assigned team tasks; and ensuring that each employee has an integral role in developing the final team product.
  • Serve as a senior scientist and nationally recognized technical authority in viral diagnostics.
  • Plan, prioritize, initiate, design, conduct, coordinate, direct, lead basic and apply research studies, particularly as related to development of novel diagnostics for virus families that cause diseases of humans.
  • Provide consultation and advice to the agency in areas of personal research expertise.
  • Participate in the development of policy and educational documents and on review and advisory panels.
