Position: Slide Path Designer
Status: Regular Full Time, 40 hours a week
Department: Slidepath
Location: Richmond, BC, Canada
Reports to: Director, Slide Path
PURPOSE:
The Slide Path team is looking for a Waterslide Slide Path Designer! Reporting to the Director, Slide Path, the slide path designer has a pivotal role in engaging with customers and salespeople to deliver world class designs tailored to the customer s needs. When required, the slidepath designer will also have the opportunity to collaborate with the dynamic Pre-contract team, consisting of Architects, Estimators and Sales Operations, as well as Post contract team, consisting of Engineers, Project managers, Product innovation/development.
The primary responsibility of this position is to engage with members of the sales team to fully understand the design requests and deliver the best solution in a timely fashion. In addition, the Slide path designer will collaborate with our internal waterslide engineering team to ensure the slides are safe and meet safety standards codes.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
Core Functions (70%):
- Develop fun waterslide designs that incorporate safety, aesthetic appeal, and site constraints.
- Prepare 3D models and 2D layouts of waterslides using SolidWorks and AutoCAD software.
- Interface with sales and clients to identify and clarify scope of work.
- Ensure that the instructions are clear and all site information is available.
- Manage the due dates and deadlines.
- Work with the tower and supports team to ensure entire design works with the site and the tower queue lines function as intended.
- For more complex projects, liaise with internal stakeholders (i.e., architects, estimators, product innovators, engineers) to collaborate on finding the appropriate design solution and coordinate work.
Secondary Functions (30%):
- Prepare preliminary tower design and queuing layouts.
- Participate in the creation of Slide Design Parameter documents and incorporate these into waterslide designs.
- Participate in Waterslide innovation brainstorming session with the Product Innovation team.
- Create and maintain tools to support the sales process.
- Support the marketing team with technical data and fun facts to be incorporated in our marketing material.
- Participate in initiatives that improve department performance and collaboration with other departments.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:
- Minimum 5 years experience in a similar position or similar technical role (i.e. civil or mechanical engineer)
- Civil / Structural / Mechanical Engineering degree or Civil / Structural / Mechanical Engineering Technology Diploma
- Ability to read and understand construction drawings and topography
- Experience using 3D modelling software, preferably AutoCAD and SolidWorks
- Must be legally eligible to work in Canada
